I’m sorry but this Jan Beames seems like a massive quack. Not really a surprise the AFLPA isn’t referring to her.

That aside, we all know Schwarz, Stringer, Fev, Ward, Johnstone etc have had major gambling issues so it’s hardly a surprise.

Heard the story from Schwarz where one year when he was playing he backed a straight 6 at the track and won 900K. Two weeks later he was down 300K. Incredible journey and the fact that he has been able to pick himself up is unbelievable. I could not imagine anything more demoralizing than ending your career knowing you have probably broke even or lost 500k-1 mill on the punt.

lol that story is totally exaggerated but the basis is correct. The amounts were more like 200k. But he did lose everything

Plenty of people have lost massive coin on other investment type activities are we going to call for a ban on those too.

Investors on the whole make money over time. You're more or less assured of a profit of you invest wisely and for long enough. Gambling, to make money you have to massively beat the market. The idea that betting is anything other than throwing money away for 99.9% of the population is absurd.
