Seriously? It's like selling a house. It's about cashing in on the potential even though it's the buyer that's got to put in after to realise it. Ty has the potential. Would be great for us if he got off his arse. Let Hawks have a go but pay for the potential or have the AFL pay us in a 2nd round pick.

The way i see it you dont go after a player thats 26 kpf/ruck as a fa and only offer him a 2 year deal - Dowsnt make sens specially if its for 350k ................ and i personally dont think tyrone would leave for less than what he is on.

My opinion is that the dawks really want him and cant afford to trade for him and need to get him as a free agent, So if the offered him $1.2 million 3 year deal that gets us a pick #38 we would match it and they would miss out or have to trade, They dont/wont have the picks to draft him in the national draft and will need to get him to the psd.
Problem with that is that Essendon,Brisbane and even Richmond could just take him - Thats not what the dawks want and lets be honest they want him and know they wont get him that way

I believe they have made a deal with tyrone that it will be an initial deal of 2 years at 500k and will extend it to a 3rd year 250k-300k in his 3rd year

I think this is on the money. Rare for a player Vickery's age to move clubs for a two year deal. I reckon the Hawks are paying overs for two years with a handshake deal to pay less next time.

Fair enough, I still can't see why they can't declare what the pick would be if nothing else changes between now and then. Or would the tigs hierarchy be told unofficially? And it's just kept in house?
Or could that be why no one has ever matched, as they don't actually know what pick they will get and don't want to take such a big risk for what is an unknown?

In fairness Jak, the only reason the Cats became a contender for a Premiership tilt is by getting Danger. You must remember that they finished well below the Tigers in 2015 and had are a far bleaker prognosis. Sure they also got Smith, Henderson and SSelwood, but only the former really contributed to their Flag potential. Meanwhile, Blicavs, Caddy, Bews, Smedts and Horlin-Smith all went backwards.

Dangerfield was the ONE player in the league (given Fyfe's injury issues) that could turn a mid-placed team into a Flag contender.

I have no doubt that had he gone to Richmond instead of Yarran and Rioli, we'd also have been a Prelim Final team in 2016. Imagine what Danger's positive influence would've done for the likes of Cotchin, Miles, Lids, Vlastuin and maybe even Edwards, just like he enabled JSelwood, Guthrie and Duncan to thrive around him in the midfield.

I doubt this, you discard the fact BEllis, Edwards, Vickery, sadly Riewoldt (through not a lot of fault of his own), Houli, Maric, Lennon, Miles, Hunt, Conca and to an extent Cotchin went backwards. That's a fair chunk of the list, not to mention a number who didn't go backwards but didn't improve. Not that I think personnel was the overriding problem - the game plan crueled us. Would Danger have been the player he was at Geelong under our style of football .. likely not!

Shows how poor Vickery's season was and how far short of expectations he has become that we are willing to throw him out the door with no real insurance for him. Riewoldt and Griffiths better stay fit - that's our two key forwards.

It's very frustrating that the AFL don't include some sort of indication what type/length of contract is required to get you a first,second, third compensation pick eg 500k at 2 years = 2nd round pick.

I'm baffled how we replace a guy who showed so little. Or is that potential.
