Roast Tyson Stengle sacked after ****ing up again

lol. You really are lacking basic football knowledge if you think they are remotely comparable players. We stuck by Walker with all his indiscretions, important players always have leeway. That's how the cookie crumble, always has and always will.
so tell me what was all of walkers indiscretions were pray tell.

we really have to admit we are a really nancy club always have to be the goody goody two shoes ,makes you want to vomit. i like most people on here love the club and are all in but for christ sake do we have to be so perfect. it certainly doesn't help our reputation within the afl.
look at the disgusting treatment of tex and im certain there were times when those idiots in charge wanted to sake him, and for what! last weekend in adelaide there was a car accident when someone was waiting for an ambulance 40 minutes it took and he died waiting, that is news worthy and disgusting sure as hell tex's indiscretion was but a blip . chuck in tyson Stengel as well, well that's turned out well hasn't it.now for good measure throw in mathew rendell.what he said is absolutely bloody right(of course no one on here will agree)if that strategy was implemented there would be a greater chance for success but no the AFC GOODY GOODY two shoes sack him and collingwood hire him.they will never learn.

I don't discourage this sacking still. I recall bumping into him at a night club and he didn't really try and hide what he was up to in his spare time the evidence was very obvious if you get my drift...

Maybe going to Geelong and getting out of the fishbowl of Adelaide where all of his childhood mates are helped him... 3rd time lucky i guess 🤷‍♂️

Ah yes, the classic "moving from a two team city fishbowl to a one team town fishbowl" trick.

I still say it was the realisation that he could lose his AFL career that "fixed" him.

He got pinged drink driving (and driving unlicensed, how did he lose his licence?) and holding illicit drugs in public. More than one incident. At least three there.

Despite the hyperbolic media response far worse actions than DeGoey.

There was an option for him to stay with us, so we did stand by him to an extent.

Rather than be bitter at our club, I am happy for Stengle. Hate seeing talent wasted by stupid off field issues.

Come on, 3 minor indiscretions and we try and ban him for a full season. Just think about it for a second, a full season ban. 3 strikes is 12 weeks, he had 2 and a DUI.

It’s like Lyons all over again. A bunch of posters saying we’re stupid, he’s talented, it’s a mistake. Then the dolts with NFI saying no, club is right, as always. Then, “he’s only getting a midfield game because he’s in a bad side.” Then, “he’s being carried as a mid by a good midfield, see, no coaches votes, there’s your proof”. Then crickets.

Posters were told this would happen, but they just turn the argument around so they weren’t wrong. It’s the same people too, Geoffa and Bicks front and centre of the mob.

JHC, we have 56yos that don’t take responsibility for their own actions (one was a recent former PM) and yet we have no issue crucifying a 20/21 yo at the time of all these offences.

You need to put the right structures in place for those individuals otherwise they are easy influenced (ala Brad Crouch). It isn’t a one size fits all approach.
I agree with this. Support is key.

I am saying we have no idea what internal supports where in place.

Daniel Jackson was appointed in January 2020, quite well respected in this space. Is a Jack Stynes Community Leadership award recipient for his work with at risk youth.

It really is a debate no side can "win" here as we have no idea what happened internally.

He could have had all the help needed, or none at all.

All we can see is that he spent some time in the real world, and is now taking the second chance given to him and succeeding.

Good on him.

The club acknowledged he needed additional support than most, given some of his challenges away from football, and sought more, including having Stengle move in with former captain Taylor Walker last year.

So F***ing what. A team we compete with managed to figure it out

The patronising “package” we put together to give him a lifelike back sums up everything wrong with our approach

Again, name another player with similar amount of indiscretions still at their club.

I agree all minor shit. DUI a bit more serious, but still somewhat minor.

There is a limit to how much minor shit you can tolerate.

Surely you can see for some people a change in environment and a reality check is more helpfull than a softer approach.

I was wrong about Lyons. Didn't think he was that good.

Stengle always had talent, really like him. And enjoying seeing him not waste it.

All I’m suggesting that 2020 was the shit show Covid-19 - there well plenty of things to distract the club so individual programs probably wasn’t high on the agenda I would have though. We don’t know tho but given the leadership at the time I reckon I might have a good idea. Therefore latitude should have been a consideration.

That is speculation. No one here has any idea how much support he had.

In general AFL players are the most looked after people in our society. The club is involved with almost every aspect of their lives.

I think at the end of the day, no matter how much support you get given, to truly overcome a drug habit, often you need a change of mindset and a new perspective on life. This would apply to smoking and alcohol addiction as well.

Sometimes all it takes is one significant life change and the addiction becomes no longer the center of one’s attention (eg. Heart attack, stroke, being jobless). But ultimately, the change of mindset needs to happen irrespective of how much support there is.

I’m sure lifetime public servant professional standards and ethics guru Linda Fellows was very strong on this. Not so worried about non-playing staff lying through their teeth though.

Did you find a player with 3 public discretions within a year who stayed on a list?

I personally dont care about the Coke use. Heaps of players do it. Privately. Unlike booze no weight gain.

And yeah, I thought he would blow his chance at an AFL career. Pretty happy he didn't.

The Choir Boys of the AFL..

Another bizarre post by yourself. For starters I wasnt even the one that raised Stengle and DeGoey in the first place. Nor did I compare their abilities in any remote way.

You really are lacking basic common sense.

Have you found anyone else suspended from playing for 12 months? There’s no precedence for that either, so it’s a judgement call. We know the AFL’s own 3 strikes policy is 12 weeks, but we chose to go with a full season.

In Med School did you do a stint at Waranilla House, a very much eye opener?

"Not to mention, the only person Stengle really "harmed" in all of this was himself and no one else, especially when you compare him to DeGoey and what has been allegedly done a few years back.".....no need to apologies, just get better.

You do comprehend the term off field indiscretions? Which is separate to football.
