preist a very good player, yes height is taken into consideration. but when you can play like this young lad it will make it hard for any type of selector to say no to picking him. comparible to a young akermanis in his day

Ditto he is a very very gifted athelete as far as skill balance and disposal none better ,If he was 6ft he'd be be another judd .He is a delite to watch and can win a game on his own .
There a few others from the murray side that really stick out and will definatly make the Country team , Ziebell is an absolute monty to get in . Imo he's the best Key position U16 player going around. He plays CHF FF CHB FB, Centre,rr amazing kick both feet , great hands , and hits packs tough as anyone going around he hurts em .I watched him play on Jack Watts in the country Champs at CHb then they swapped next quarter and watts was CHB and it was a great contest from two guys i rate as the best in the country. Steele Sidebottom is another he's a super talent havent seen a kid as well balanced as him or priest and just amazing to watch tho i have heard he likes a lick of the beer so he may get lost to the game , Matt pianto is terrific he's very tough and really hits the ball hard at pace great kick and loves it hard. Plays senior footy already so look out metro boys . There's another couple that should go ok to Josh hicks a talented left footer who looks like he's really steped up this year looks like he's really fit. If he gets in he will go well

Who makes All-Australian depends on how players are selected. In under 15 schoolboys the players are nominated by their coaches and then assessed by selectors. eg-player x has a very good carnival but isn't nominated and therefore misses out. Now I don't know how the state national selectors pick the All-Australian team in the under 16's . Can someone enlighten me?

Does anyone know where you can find lists of the all australian U/16 teams. I know about the 15's and 18's although can't find the 16s.

Thanks in advance

Im pretty sure, correct me if i am wrong that the all australian side is the AIS scholarships. Its not necassairly given to the best players, its given to people that have some draft potential.

The AIS-AFL academy is selected by a team of 3-4 league recruiting officers along with kevin Sheehan and Alan McConnell. Selection in this squad doesn't necessarily advocate an All Australian selection or performance- but rather the players' scope as a 16/17 year old to play league football.

However, some super talented footballers have played themselves into the academy just through sheer awesome perfromances.

i think
Watts he'll difinatly go if he wants to up there with the best u16 in the country basketballer also so afl would be keen to get him over.
scully : beeps 15+ got a good motor runs hard and can find the ball.
Purcell :good height and light frame means theres plenty of scope for him to develop
Cachia: He's got runs on the board for state last year he's a good size and is developing his game .
witkowski might go he's playing pretty good footy at the minute if he has a good carnival he could go .

Contry boys dont know much about but

Butcher hes big atheletic and good skills plenty to like about him .

Ziebell is in the same class as watts scully and butcher along with priest. He's got all the tricks and best kick going around.

Priest he's just a superb athelete although tiny he's silk, would be the most skilled natural player i have seen Jr Rioli included.

they'd be my definites but there are a lot of kids i havent seen either, if you assume about 5-6-7 players would come from either side these guys wouold be in for sure.

Good player for sure I rekon he's very underated in rep footy was stiff not to get a run in U15's only light so has got plenty of competition so will really have to play well in trials to get ahead of the pack tho theres no doubt he's up to it .He's a no nonsense type that doesnt grab attention but good judges rate him highly if he kicks a goal or something he should do a handstand so they watch him.

First practice matches for the two squads this week end should be on for young and old with a cut being made.
usual suspects should show thier heads
Metro - scully , witkowski,cachia snell ,purcell,melksham, jakobi.
country- ziebell ,priest ,sidebottom ,pianto, gavin, christensen, and cunnington.

be great to see.
cachia, purcell ,witkowski,
against a forward line of ziebell ,cunnington, priest

Ziebell and cunnigton are gonna be a strong forward set up with priest sidebottom and pianto backing them up .
as will metro with cachia purcell witkowski and scully helping them out .
doubt we will see it tho sat .
Could see a great team for metro with
Watts he will be back for carnival CHF scully guts cachia purcell jacobi witkowski down back

Has grown a lot over the past 12 months. I'll be certainly watching with interest this weekend.
Handstand may be a good tip !

Metro appear very strong this year although country have a range of very very good players.

ziebell ellis ,oakley, tiller, butcher, cunnigton all good tall players backed by very clever onballers in hooper preist gavin hicks, rock christensen and a couple of others then sidebottom (wing hf,)pianto, bartlett geary, tate, page irvine and then some of the kids not known yet filling in the holes it makes a very strong side.

Metro side will be strong down back jakobi, witkowski ,cachia and with scully, wallace snell and co in the guts looking good and with watts back at CHF they will be more than handy with all thier tallls . the metro have gone very big while country look much smaller all round so they are going to rely heavily on thier big guys to work hard. Country ewill have to be a very gutsy side and play with a lot of heart.

I believe there are 2 games this Saturday Vic metro v's Vic Country. Has anyone got any idea how the sides were selected? Do you think they have already got them sorted into A & B teams with the B team to play first?

Anyone got any thoughts?

Speaking to a mate, the 1 oclock Vic Metro game is supposibly very strong this being the second game of the day..

Its hard to know exactly what the selectors are thinking. A couple of boys that i know are playing in the second game aren't really up to scratch. Do you think they might be wanting to have a look at them? With a couple of good kids that are playing in the first game given a easier run?

Just got hold of the sides for tomorrow.

Metro boys nominated are palying in game 2 with county boys nominated playing in game 1. So they won't even go up against each other.

Judging by your idea of the better players, Country should be far too strong in game 1 with metro too good in game 2.
