Didn't Vic Country beat Vic Metro last year (u/15 making boys u/16 this year)? If same boys chosen why would it be any different this year?

kids dont grow or develope do they? in 1 year they stay the same as they were, at a pubesent stage in their life dont you think a few different factors may contribute to a different result?

A reliable source has told me that Vic metro, is a much better side then the country side. Its all different this yr, last yr was schoolboy vic metro/country, the best players arent exactly selected because anyone can put there name down to play, and if there selected good on em. Vic Metro have much more depth than the country side judging by the practice matches last week. even though metro were missing the likes of cachia, scully etc. Yet will be very interesting to see who wins in the practice matches in a few weeks time.

Results vary significantly every year. Last year Vic Metro dominated the U/18 carnival, although when those guys were U/15 it was WA who were unstoppable winning every game by a convincing margin. The same happened when this years U/18 group were U/15, WA dominated, and it looks like Vic Metro are set to do the same in the U/18s this year. A lot of things can change, even in 1 year.

I think you will find the sides will be significantly different and boys have developed differently . There are usually around half the side from u 15 go onto u/16 so just the fact of even having 5-10 changes will significantly alter a sides performance eg had metro had a player like Jack watts in the side last year might have made a huge difference when a bloke like Butcher slaughtered them for country . i think the metro side will be much stonger than country as usual.

if last years under 16 is anything to go by squads change by 50% at least. Won't be anything like last years squads. Under 15 is chosen from 200 kids at most where 2000 kids are looked at for under 16.
But I don't know enough about either squad to say who is looking stronger just stating that squads will be different

metro:
luke mitchell - very good pair of hands. 6'2 -6'3. Key position forward. has the ability to ruck as well
johnny rayner - 1st/2nd best 800m runner in australia. chuck this kid on the wing and he'll get 20+ touches every game guaranteed

both are 16's guns who play in st bernards 1st's.

Luke is only u/15 but is in year 10. Don't think he made St. Bernards 1sts. Rayner is in 1st but he is year 11. Tommy Lucin is only year 10 boy to make St. Bernard's XVIII and I think he is still only a 15 year old.

Not sure if Luke is trying our for u/15's. Crazy if he isn't. His only down fall is his lack of speed.

mitcha hasnt had a run in the 1sts because of schools not allowing yr 10's to play herald sun matches. he should be a definite starter against catholic college sale

rayner is also a young year 11. frequently appears in western jets' best most weeks. young enough to be a year 10

In squad but yet to play a game this season. Don't know what his fitness is like.

Played in Assumption Year 10s today and was best on. Should be playin 1's for ACK next week. His fitness seems alright but the real test should be if he plays ACK 1's next week.

Year 10s are permitted to play. Lucin has already played 2 games and will be a starter on Wednesday. I was unaware that Mitch had been named.

As for Rayner. Unaware that he has had a run in the u/18s??? Where did you see his name in the bests????

Round 2 Western Jets

lucin has only played one game, against parade a few weeks ago week. in the acc both sides must agree whether or not to allow yr 10 players to play, seeing as though the first match against st bedes was an acc and herald sun game, st bedes did not allow year 10's. however parade did.

sorry bout that, i was reffering to the u/16's results not u/18's, seeing as though the thread is about 16's. rayner plays 16's jets

boys this kid is an absolute freak of a footballer. he's about 192cm and 80kgs, but can play anywhere required of him. prefers to play in the ruck as a 4th onballer cos hes so mobile and agile (hence, won the agility test at the recent fitness testing a few weeks back) but also has the raw ability just to play anywhere, (eg. key position, on-ball, ruck).

unfortunately for the pioneers he's too young to play u18s with bendigo in the tac cup but definately one to watch at the championships coming up.

Great athelete but in the past not real clever in footy terms . When he steps up he struggles a bit with clever players . Tends to get out played a bit. It will be interesting to see how he has developed in terms of footy smarts because he's a great size for a player.

rock small but a goer.
19 country

any one know of others that stand out in regions

Theres a bit of noise going on with James rock from geelong . I saw him at the trials and he looked ok moved well but was a bit small but vic country all looked smallish compared to Metro so it will be interesting who they take as smalls with farren priest, hooper who hasnt grown an inch, and Dean Gavin ,very good players and wont miss, along with Christensen, Josh hicks (left footer who's really developed by the look of him) playing last year and are also good shows to stay. Now days you need to be very clever if your small and hooper and preist certainly are.

preist a very good player, yes height is taken into consideration. but when you can play like this young lad it will make it hard for any type of selector to say no to picking him. comparible to a young akermanis in his day

luke mitchell- u/15 6-3' and still got more growing and he isnt crazy coz he tried out and is in the vic team. but moving onto better people- shane tripp will be darfted for sure at the stage is towelling it up in the action indoor team competetion b'n'f. Watch out for him!!
