The main issue with Trippier at LB is the constant cutting in on to his right foot, playing Gomez there doesn’t solve that issue.

It was poor squad selection from Southgate to not take a fit left-footed fullback, he’s sort of forced himself in to playing Saka there because of it.

Which is fair but at least Gomez (or Shaw) is a defender first and foremost and its the pointy end of the tournament. You dont want an attacking player having to defend quite a lot, one mistake can be costly.

In all my time watching the great game , especially Euro's and WC's, this hands down is the most boring , most pedestrian tournament of them all! Every team bar two or three are doing exactly the same thing.. Spain have been breath of fresh air ( though their manager nearly fluffed it for them last game), the Turks have plenty of talent and have attacked without any care for consequences when losing the ball but still have been watchable. The Swiss, the Dutch and Austria haven't been too bad either. The rest of them? Gtfooh.

Shocking to me that Southgate has gone with a back three and go with wingbacks and then still sits Trent on the bench.

With 3 CB's covering the space behind TAA, you have a generational talent who will be perfect on the right and getting balls in. But instead he just moves over Trippier.
