Harry Kane the trophy dodger lives on

Watching him this tournament reminded me of Lacazette during his final months at Arsenal. Time and again Saka is in behind the full back and delivering cutbacks awaiting to be finished off, but whatever reason the centre forward is ambling his way in from somewhere in midfield. Watkins and Toney should’ve played many more minutes this tournament.

Wonder if any other manager would have started
Watkins instead of Kane

Doubt it. Martinez still started Ronaldo didn't he?

Kane won the Golden Boot.

Not a good morning for the english (and conversely a spectacular one for the spanish)

Djokovic is English now?

England always think they should win every major tournament. But historically there’s been better teams on paper than them almost every time.

The one time they are near the best on paper and it’s not a coincidence they’ve made two finals and a semi. They tend to finish where their ability is at but the British press are never gonna sell it that way.

An EPL all star team of sorts made up of english players of course.EPL is where the money and viewership is, its the best to watch because its fast paced, and people get seduced into thinking it will translate into national wins.

I love the Shepp News getting a link on here haha

Would a foreign manager help?

Southgate appears to be a great man manager on a personal level. The players seem to like him. A replacement needs to be on Gareth's level here.

But a tactician who also empowers the players and let's them play is likely the next step. Watching these players who play in the top clubs of England and Europe, particularly under Spanish managers, merely sitting back and letting Spain knock it about for all but 10 mins of the match when they went behind won't win them tournaments. They have the players to win it.

Perhaps I'm expecting too much of the England system? Spanish players are taught from a very young age to be technically proficient, to play football to enjoy it, to move, not to be constrained. Southgate's approach is to stifle and it's actually foreign to a lot of these players who are coached by foreigners at club level.

Look where the managers of the top clubs come from in that League. And only 4 are English.

Kane doesn’t suit a team with Saka, Foden & Bellingham in it, doesn’t work and we saw that every game this tournament.

A country has not had a better time of it than Greece’s Euro 2004, Olympics 2004, Eurobasket 2005 and Eurovision 2005 12 month quadruple. 👍

Klopp. It’s time to give the players the respect and honour they deserve and have a a manager which is every bit elite.
Southgate is miles out of his league with this talent

As just like the Ashes they're winners on morality and not actual ability

Who has said that? Why are they superior morally to the Spanish?

Or is this just a lame joke?

Death and taxes result this. Pity Germany and Spain had to play in the quarter finals, that would have been the ideal final.
