UFC is now a publicly traded company (under the TKO brand).

If they have built up their business and revenue model with a '80% profit margin', how can they change that now?

I'm not defending the Tomato or Hunter or the rest of them, I'm pointing out the business reality.

If they pay Jones 'what he thinks he's worth', then they have to pay the next guy, and the next guy, and so on.

This is why they were willing to let Ngannou go even though he was guaranteed blockbuster for them.

It wasn't about Ngannou, it was about the business model. Which they now have to stick with.

Imagine being an investor into TKO and then Tomato and Hunter start paying fighters above the going rate.

It wouldn't end well for those responsible.
I get it and know that's what they're doing. How many big fights get missed before people tune in less?

Saying "fighter is asking for too much" is dumb. An undercard guy? Sure, they bring nothing in and are all interchangeable. A big fight like this they would bring more profit in by paying up

I hope fans don't fall for the "he doesn't want it anymore" is all.

P4P is dumb but JJ is number 1 easily imo. Islam wouldn't take him down and he takes Topuria/AP down to pummel them. Easy choice

Jones
AP
Islam
Topuria
I think if its meant to be current then Poatan is P4P.

MW/LHW and just wasting 3 guys a year.

Jones has Gane and a 42 year old Miocic in the last 4 years?

Jones is the GOAT and will remain unparalled IMO but RIGHT now, hes probably 3rd on the P4P list.

P4P is if both guys weighed the same, who wins
Not comparing resumes (but guess that can play a part)

Poatan gets his shit pushed in by Jones

Depends how you take the p4p list. I do agree that as an all round threat Jones is the P4P
If it's on resumes in a time period I think it's Topuria and Poatan #1

Its a made up list with at best fluffy criteria.

If its PURELY based on same weight who wins Jones probably does get it but if thats the case you may as well have retired fighters and guys who fight once a decade on there.

You have to take form and wins into account IMO. Not even sure how else youd assess it without looking at performances.

Take recent wins into account sure but Jones is still an active fighter (not as active as we'd like but is active and current champ) and none of the others could touch him

Topuria is fighter of the year, stopping Max wins that easily for mine but in the ridiculous made up world where he and Jones fight at the same weight, Jones wins easily.

P4P is dumb but that's the hypothetical, if 2 guys weighed the same, who wins...

Sure... I dont agree

The first google result for P4P is as follows.

"Pound for Pound" rankings are subjective and often a matter of debate among fans, analysts, and experts. These rankings are not based on direct competition between the fighters but rather on an assessment of their individual skills, achievements, and performances relative to their weight class.

So much like the GOAT debate, theres not a consensus on the criteria.
