this is all true but i'd rather see Jones fight AP ahead of Tom. BUT he cant duck Tom and retain the belt. Either needs to give it up or foght tom.

Problem is Jon Jones is 37.5 years old. Dont think he has even got 2 more fights in him?

2 more fights with an assumed 12-month break has him almost 40.
Why? He can easily fight 2x per year, especially when schedules line up like AP/Asp does atm.

JJ rarely fights more than once in 12 months. being almost 40, dont really blame him.

Might as well stay active rather than getting in and out of shape then

This layoff will all be about contract negotiations. UFC will freeze him out and claim he doesnt want to fight

meh the big dog eats when it wants too.

JJ has earned the right to fight on his terms, i loved to see him fight as much as AP does, but he's getting old now.

Problem is I think bones wants to be paid like he's Conor but I don't think these guys understand Conor was paid half for his in cage performance but half for his out of cage work. Jones is a great fighter but he's an awful promoter outside of trying to kill DC

People underestimate Jones draw IMO. He'd be their biggest seller right now

Also so dumb for fans to be against "he wants to be paid more", the whole UFC model is built on 80% profit margins. They can afford to pay fighters more. **** them tbh, stop falling for their shit (not you even though you're kind of doing it here)

We missed out on Jones v Ngannou, we'll possibly miss Jones v Aspinall. There's a stack of great fights we missed out on due to UFC stinginess. If everyone stopped parroting Dana rhetoric and siding with them on fighter pay we might actually get the fights we want & the fighters being more active

I'm more saying it depends where the actual truth lies in what's offered. If Jones wants the 20m fight purse I'm not sure the ufc can or will offer it, however 2 million is unders. I think if they can get to 10-12 million for the aspinall fight I think both would do it.

The UFC can very, very easily pay him $20m. If he were a boxer with his PPV sales he'd likely make double that still

The fight will do at least 800k buys (plus Canada and Australia). at $69.95 per pop that's $56m excluding gate, merch, ads etc.

The UFC do not need to take 80%.

I also don't understand fans fascination with the UFC books. Dana doesn't need another Ferrari, Ari definitely doesn't need more money, yet fans would prefer that than the actual talent making their worth?!

Eh I'm not against them making the money, I just don't want them to turn into boxing cards with absolutely nothing under the main event and then the guys only fighting once a year. I'm fine with him making 50m if he fights more than once every 2 years

Inactivity is also the UFC fault. They have too many people signed!

UFC guys aren't really fighting any more than boxers. AJs fought more than many top HW for example

Undercards already have barely anyone on them. The UFC does a better job of making jobbers feel big though which makes many cards feel better than they really are

12 v 14 in the rankings gets shit on in boxing but UFC this would be considered a good fight. It's perception overall that UFC does things better but when you actually critique it, do they?

The insane profits UFC strives for may also be to prop up their parent company Endeavour. Apart from UFC and WWE just about everything else they have interest in doesn't do very well.

Haha I dunno mate I'm a little less on the hate train of the UFC than you. Probably because AFLs all shit and woke now and I can't get into the American sports it's about all I have left.

I dont 'hate it' but I struggle to comprehend the rhetoric the UFC are doing things way better than boxing when the reasons they do so much better aren't factual. They do market themselves infinitely better. I do follow it a lot less now though, especially since the gambling ban in SA. Quickly realized I followed it as a 2nd job rather than as a legitimate fan. Barely miss it since I largely stopped paying attention

Saying 'he is asking for too much money' does shit me though! Why fans would side with Dana after 989264788276176x he makes the claim "he doesnt want to fight any more" and the fact is he won't pay is beyond me haha

Don't blame anyone moving off footy even though I haven't. NBA is a good follow, NHL was the best sport I went to but can't follow it as easily.
