Haha, well damn.Cajones = drawers. Cojones, or huevos(eggs) means balls.
So that was a right call (it wasnt) cos he explained it to your liking...... but the Sheed/Rioli call was wrong cos you said? Are you talking about the one where the Eagles player dragged it back into him? The umpire explained that one clearly.
Confirmation bias is a thing, sure, but I think some things are undeniable. 1. A West Coast player did grab the ball and pull it in towards Howe. 2. Sheed, after taking the mark, turned his body, took two strides forward and motioned to handball, before then pulling up and claiming the mark.So that was a right call (it wasnt) cos he explained it to your liking...... but the Sheed/Rioli call was wrong cos you said?
THIS !!!!! The Howe holding the ball non decision was worth 2 goals because Colllingwood went straight back and kicked a goal. They let plenty go all game both ways (like Howe dragging it back in late in the third, and then a clear incorrect disposal 30 seconds later by a Pie defender), so you can't just pick out a couple at the end as the influential ones.
Just got home from the game. Collingwood got the better of the umpiring all day. In the second quarter the Eagles were bent over. No doubt about it. The rubbish 50 that went the Eagles' way and the Rioli infringement (was right in front of me actually) were the only two obvious passages I could see at the game which went the Eagles' way. Also curious why Sidebottom wasn't penalised for a deliberate rushed behind at the end. Haven't seen a replay but at the game it looked like it should have been called deliberate.
I think you need to look at the tape again. Not to prove you wrong (which you are), but just so it burns you up again.Confirmation bias is a thing, sure, but I think some things are undeniable. 1. And, of course, I trust you hold yourself to the same standard- the Howe call was wrong because it wasn't to your liking?
I know schadenfreude can be a turn on, but any chance you could explain how and why you think I'm wrong?I think you need to look at the tape again. Not to prove you wrong (which you are), but just so it burns you up again.
So many free kicks missed - including that being a block
We got away with a few holds in defence
But equally we had a heap missed for us as well
The umps were consistent in swallowing the whistle all day - anything short of decapitation was waved on.
It’s easy to hold on to it though (eagles fans still do with Leo barry’s Mark with about 6 free kicks in it)
Great mark by Ryan followed by a clear block by Rioli and clear play-on by Sheed. I know it'll be easy to shut me down as a sore loser, but is there any way Sheed shouldn't have been called for play-on? Ridiculous and cowardly umpiring.
Not so sure about the block. From the umpiring perspective both the Eagles players are watching the ball but the Collingwood player is watching Rioli. If you watch the video Maynard pretty much never looks at the ball. His sole purpose seems to be to jump into whoever was going to mark it which would be a free kick anyway.
Non paid Howe HTB, WC goal square. Unpaid Vardy mark, WC scoring opportunity. Unpaid Kennedy mark shot from 45m on a tight angle.I actually thought West Coast had the better of the umpiring early in the game, it was like the umpires were trying to keep West Coast in the game when Collingwood were dominating and threatening to run away with it.
Overall the umpiring was pretty good though, much better than the last two GFs, and Collingwood can't really blame the umpiring for losing. They should have made more of their early dominance and built a bigger lead, they left the door open for an Eagles comeback and they were good enough to take their chances.
Should have been a Rioli free. High contact and held out of the contest.Confirmation bias is a thing, sure, but I think some things are undeniable. 1. WC should have had two shots on goal, missed HTB and mark before that.1. Yup, I'll grant that Stephenson ran 20 metres (got the ball at 40, kicked at 20), but that's not what this discussion's about. It's about the game-winning goal that should never have even been attempted.
2. The screenshot above is a humourous attempt- that's Maynard getting around the block. The free should've been paid to him for what occurred before that. Look at how far away the ball is when Rioli initiates contact, and how obvious is is that he's protecting Sheed's space by not allowing Maynard to contest.
