Anyone else agree that Mathew Nicholls makes the worst howlers in the comp, that free with the 50m penalty near the end of the game last night was outrageous, and the idiot even berates the players if they question it?

Still can’t believe they aren’t full time and most of them rich toffs like CEO’s and Lawyers

Says it all really just all members of the boys clubs instead of decent umps promoted from the local leagues

he/him chernie hashtagging us

Punt Road rebuild gets done in 7 weeks, way under budget with major upgrades.

Laura Kane's house extension takes 20 years to complete, is full of rats, leaks and rising damp, and goes 14 times over budget.

100% have said the same thing for ages. youd get a much better standard of umpiring. no conflicting outside interests to create biases just people focused on doing their job right. accountability doesnt exist atm largely because these umpires do it for weekend beer money, if they were reprimanded or sacked it means nothing to them.

I’ve also heard that one of the other issues is that when they do actually promote umps the most important thing they look for is fitness and running capacity

Similar to the issue the afl had a few years ago when they would look for athletes first and footballers 2nd

Make the guys full time, have a pool of say 60 who also do the state leagues as well so they can be promoted or dropped to the lower leagues based on performance

Have a base salary and for example 5k match payments for state league games but 10k for AFL level
Incentive to perform and clear KPI’s that are required

Spend time at clubs helping players understand the rules and have that open discussion

Full time means fitness can be trained like an afl player or any professional sportsperson

The Umps certainly won’t want Dusty and the Tigers celebrating tonight so get set for a 21-12 count, including 14-3 in the first half just so we aren’t any chance to get a run on. And if we do get any momentum up, a welcome back 50m against Lynchy will shut that down quick smart. This stuff is all so predictable I wish we could bet on it! At least we could make some money off it while our team gets shafted EVERY WEEK!
