There's a theory, set out in Anson Cameron's book on Neil Balme, that all this anti Richmond bias can be sheeted home squarely to Balme himself. And Cameron was told this by Dimma during the course of researching material for the book.

At the start of each season, the umpires come to every Club to give the players and coaches an overview of what to expect of the coming year. It's all sweetness and light with courtesy and politeness all round. There's plunger coffee and donuts and then Hayden Kennedy steps up to deliver his address. To everyone's surprise, Balme, who had only recently returned to Richmond, gets to his feet and tears into the umpires, berating them for their incompetence and accusing them of being the cause of the horrendous current state of the game. He tore into them for about 20 minutes and the umpires just sat there shell shocked. And ever since Richmond have been last in free kicks.
Who sits still and voluntary to be...berated for 20 minutes non-stop abuse?!?...I would just walk out!

Very good. I wish I'd though of that. BTW, Cameron's book is a great read and is rare in that it tells you stuff you didn't already know. Balme appears to be universally acknowledged as being a lovely insightful gently giant off the field but trigger finger unhinged on it. Even Peggy couldn't sit near him at games because of the way he carried on regarding umpires. His hatred of anything resembling authority was insanely intense.

I will try to have a look later at whether Neil Blame's fiery temper affected Collingwood, Geelong and Melbourne similarly when he was employed at those clubs. That will be interesting.

The stats do indeed show the non decisions barra.

That is why we are AFL #18 #18 #17 #18 for free kicks received in the last 4 seasons.
2 questions main board can never answer are

1. why do we consistently receive less free kicks year on year with oppo teams having their most disciplined weeks of the year against us?

2. How has Hardwick's gamestyle suddenly have GC Suns near the top of the free kick ladder?

I'm not suggesting that one 20 minute episode close to a decade ago is the only reason, let alone the main reason, for the Club's dismal record of free kicks for. Coaching and executive insiders would be better placed to shed light on that. It is apparent though that some Clubs do consistently better here than others while ours can't seem to improve its position. In order to overcome the problem we need to understand the reasons for the problem existing in the first place. That is something the Club really needs to address in a measured objective assertive way. After that, we deal with it.

One of the biggest problems getting the truth across to a sceptical public is half-truth and exaggeration.

When a Collingwood supporter complains about the umpiring in a match this year, even if it's true it's a half-truth, because the total gift of a flag last year is not mentioned.

So many exaggerate their club's problems with umpiring that when a Richmond supporter tells the truth about real, statistically demonstrable problems, the listeners' eyes roll and they disregard what is said. This is human nature because humanity has a lazy streak. Thus, people believe what they want to believe. The truth becomes irrelevant.

That's a terrible indictment of the game when scoring goals is decided by the Umpire's intrusion rather than player contests!
It's become a real 'Nanny State' of corporate intrusion...rather than a free enterprise game of contest!
The word "intrusion" needs to extend to "deliberate interference" with interpretations.

How many times have we seen free kicks against us in the oppo F50, where the recipient does not even know he has the free.

I'd love to change one rule - Any free kick given in the forward 50 cannot result in a shot on goal. Back date the rule to 2017 and we could easily have added another Flag. Hopefully one day an astute student of the game that follows the tigers collates the data of how many fee kicks were paid against us that led to goals, that were deemed incorrect interpretations. On the flipside - How many were missed for both sides ?

All I even ask for is an even playing field. Even the diehard pro Umpires "it's the way we play the game" supporters have come around due to the sheer volume of data that points to obvious manipulation of the rules and interpretations in Tigers games in the last 7 years.

Agreed ST. That's why it's critically important to take control of the narrative.

when we are contending again they are just going to ream us again ? whats the point

Meteoric Rise needs to take same umps for a ride in his au ltd

The only consistency in the umpiring over the last 7 years is the shafting of our club. They could not shaft us any further, as the general public have had a sniff of the truth, and to ream us any further would be ridiculous. They would 100% change the rules against us, as they have in the past - rather than ream us to eternity...

Even so, the AFL would give it's tick of approval - nothing to see here...

last night was a 40 point win without the umps

we play the oppo and the umps every week, no wonder its so hard to win

prob have another 4-6 wins on the board right now with normal umpiring even with injuries

A guy stole my wallet out of my golf bag once Gru. I very nearly caught him cashing in a winning TAB ticket at the local TAB when I instructed them to call me if someone tries to cash that ticket. When I got there he had gotten cold feet before collecting the dough(they told him they need to get tickets older than x days cleared before paying out and would be just a few minutes) and he ran. I apparently only just missed him.

If I got there before he vanished he was going to get the privilege of a ride in the forerunner to the AU, my prized 1991 Ford Fairlaine Ghia V8. I doubt he ever would have forgotten it for the rest of his life Gru.

Reckon we could bundle these campaignerpires in the AU 6-8 at a time and give them the opportunity to understand the error of their ways. If nobody tells them then they probably have no way of telling just how far out of line they are Gru. Sometimes it is easier to learn things when the lesson is reinforced physically.

No wonder we are physically worn out...
Playing two teams every week since 2017...
Scatters veterans keep playing well into their 30years plus...
We struggle to reach 30years undamaged!
The crushing physical toll of 'free kick bias' is exhausting!
And it's doing our collective heads in as well!
No wonder Cumbo goes nuts...Balta doesn't smile...the GOAT is mute!...Pickett is finga crazy!

The boot is sort of slimline. But you can jam the payload in and hold it/squash it down then slam the lid shut with as much force as you can really quickly and it should close and hold all those campaignerpires in there until we can get them to a suitable place of learning Gru. You hate doing it but sometimes you just have to use a little bit of force. :)

The players know they're not rewarded for strong tackles, infringements in the forward 50 or 50 m penalty situations.

This affects their performance.

Footy is not played on an oval, but between the ears, and the players' thinking is being messed with.

It is a form of control.

Cars generally are so underused Gru. Some people only use them to go to work, go shopping and take outings to places like the beach. So much more you can do with a car than that. Cars can really bring people together at times I find. :)
I bet the interior is mint condition
