. That said…what ****EN GARBAGE this game is now. Missed the 1st half Syd v RFC but fair dinks the umps are BS, it’s not just the current rule interpretations which are also BS or the new rules (again BS) … someone do stats on how long are passages of play before interupted by a whistle. If the free was obvious, ok, but quite a lot of baffling wtf??? Does not enhance enjoyment.
I thought the umpires could not possibly outdo themselves for the worst level of umpiring in living memory... but no, they surpassed that again with the most obvious 50M penalty in AFL history missed due to "noise". Those these 3 corrupt officials have never umpired in a Grand Final with TWICE the crowd ?

Never mind the noise at dreamtime last week when bolton got done twice for not hearing a whistle after an infringement. It is putrid. Disgusting. Someone needs to say something.

Technically there. There was a fistful of jumper however briefly. However, the amount of holding that McCartin got away with on Riewoldt is disgusting, especially when that one was paid to Reid to open the game.
When are you guys/girls going to wake up and realise this is a business.....like the NFL, NBA etc..... we have betting companies shoved down our throat every ad....Prestia was given for 25 disposals yet get's 24....60 free kicks...what was rioli free kick for ....seriously and the script from the commentators after the game is laughable.....listen to this crap. I really don't care on the negative feedback from posters no matter who you support.... umpires with earpieces like all sport nowadays are being told .... and the after show bullshi$ from the commentary was it a free kick was it 50..... it took me a few years to work out sports are rigged, You don't leave a multi million dollar business up to chance when sports betting companies are involved or they go out of business. Hardwick will come out say its a a hard game to officiate.... wake up people!!! You wonder why crowds are down. They want you to sit at home and watch the entertainment and gamble....gambling companies would have made a fortune tonight on Sydney in live betting....watch the whistles go out the window come finals...
The AFL is much harder than the NBA or NFL to script but we are seeing it happen before our eyes thankyou sportbet, pointsbet etc. Well done AFL you have succumb to the $$$ and yeah I get it now its a business and entertainment..

Player has an obligation to give the ball directly to the player receiving the free kick - you could argue if Warner had kept the ball in play somehow with a kick/handball.....but he's kicked it into the third tier...... a 50m penalty in any moment in time playing footy!!!!

A Fifty Metre Penalty in favour of that Player will be awarded if the field Umpire is of the opinion that
any Player or Official from the opposing Team:
(e) has not returned the football directly and on the full to the Player awarded the
Mark or Free Kick;
(f) engages in any conduct which delays or impedes the play; or
(g) engages in any other conduct for which a Free Kick would ordinarily be awarded.
All 3 of those Black and White examples happened and it was not given 50. Total incompetence and an objectively incorrect decision by the umps.
Stevic overturned the other ump who was gonna pay 50 so it's either cheating or just Stevic being a total dumbarse.
You guys have copped it all through your flag era, but at least it was for the way you attacked other teams.
Nowadays the overumpiring is just killing the game. The fee against Rioli was something else.

Stevis is no dumbarse, but he has overstepped his position of authority in the moment. They keep saying it was commonsense, but commonsense has not been allowed to prevail in countless instances in 10 Rounds of football this season, and 22 Rounds and Finals last season. Even their inconsistencies are inconsistent. The game is a shame!

RFC should have the balls to ask the question at least. None of this horseshit "Its the way we play", or "it is such a hard game to officiate". Stop being spineless pricks and stand up for whats right. How ANYONE can suggest it is even a chance of being a Reid Free kick needs their head read. If anything it is "play on" or technically, a free to Tarrant for a push...
