So just a simple note here. For my earlier post I searched available records back to 1965.
Relative free kick differential is derived by dividng a team’s average free kicks against by that team’s average free kicks for, in a given season. For Richmond this season that figure is 22.5/15.7 = 1.43. So in 2021 Richmond have had over 14 free kicks paid against them for every 10 they have paid to them. This ratio is worse after 10 matches than any team has ever recorded for a whole season, records I have seen dating back to 1965. So of the last approximately 800 individual teams who have contested an AFL/VFL season, Richmond 2021 currently has THE WORST relative free kick differential.
The worst of 800 teams since 1965. So that gives us some factual context to fire at people calling Richmond whingers etc.
Let’s see if Champion Data or any football “journalist”(there are in reality none) deign to actually present these type of facts this week, because that makes this Richmond team a massive historical statistical outlier.
