He averaged 79 last year despite only averaging 74 minutes TOG. Utterly ridiculous post.

WOWOWWOOWOW from 4 games. Shit no small sample size there, none at all :rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

Ive stopped reading your post Gopower your bias reports on all port players is ridiculous. Take away that 116 game against Sydney which is clearly a extreme outlier and he avgs close to 65 in the other 3 games.

A lot of DT players in Vic/SA have forgotton about Mayne I reckon and some probably wouldn't even know who he is at all..but imo he is set for a big year at Freo. Looks free from the injuries he had last year.

Will be their main target as a lead-up forward (while Pav gets tagged to the hilt).

Aggressive, good hands and always looks for the goals..

Hartlett is the only Port player I have in my DT and the only other one I even considered is Boak. Good post though :thumbsu:

Oh, and if you take away his game against Adelaide he averaged 85. I can play this game too.

DwD is less accurate than he thinks on at least a few occasions but I'm happy to agree with him here that Hartlett would be a poor choice.

I don't actually know if your TOG figures are accurate or not but I would speculate that a low TOG figure would have been contributed to by him coming off the ground in one or two of those games with a hamstring strain!!

His points per minute figures might be good, but his durability is beyond terrible and I would suggest he will not go even close to getting through 8 games.

Feel free to take the risk, it's certainly not something I'm doing, or would recommend doing...

EDIT: One thing you would achieve is being very unique :)

Right thread for it then. And yes, I'm aware it's a risk, but IF he doesn't get an injury it'll pay off massively IMO.

And TOG figures are from the Prospectus, so you'd think they'd be accurate.

Then absolutely go for it! For anybody to win this year you will need at least something unique about your team...

To digress - you mentioned the only power players you are considering are Boak and Hartlett, yet your signature suggests you're a big fan of Jarrad Irons. Any reason you aren't considering him?

Taylor Walker could be a real smokey. 3rd year rule - got scores of 90, 77 and 126 in the NAB and did okay in those weird 20min half matches.

And he'll be playing as well as he can for contract leverage with the Giants! Can't wait for the boy from NSW to return home!

I will undoubtedly be accused be accused of being hopeful rather than anything else, but I think he might stay. Likes his teammates and team prospects - if anything lures him to GWS it will be money. Sydney isnt his home...

Back on topic - interesting DT prospect, typical risk/reward mid pricer though. Being a key forward will make some terrible and some awesome scores, you would think

If I knew the coaching staff were as big fans of him as I am then he'd be in, but I think he's too much of a risk to miss too many games.

I'm thinking about D.Astburying my backline, or forwardline, with S McKernan as a link.

Positives: Cheap. DP - can be upgraded to a keeper in either backs or forwards. Best 22. Looks to be getting his hands on more ball this preseason. Good skills, hence unlikely to be dropped.
Negatives: Don't think he's played in a full-strength Tigers side yet this PS - scores could be inflated. Could simply be a NAB Cup specialist. KPP.

Can anyone provide opinions to support the case for getting him?

All valid picks the last 3.

Everitt is very interesting unfortunatly i think your better off taking an Adcock instead he seems alot more secure and has greater upside. But with No Malceski a spot is certainly opened up for him and as you showed, his form in the NAB has been awesome. Number 11 draft pick, so maybe the new move is realising his potential, that can happen at the swans.

Palmer, definitly would pick him ahead of Cotchin. Both seem like valid options, but i can see Cotchin copping the number 1 tag on quite a few occasions. Hes going to be so good this kid. Palmer as said is 4th in line for a tag when Barlow is playing and his fitness will help with the new sub rule eg: he will be spending more time out there than players who only run a 13 beep. We all know he is severly underpriced due to a discount and a poor season compared to his opening year.

Fyfe, i personally just do not pick 2nd year players. He will have his ups and have his downs this year. Hes an interesting option, but i havnt had much luck with 2nd year players over my time and i cant see that changing.

Is Ward worth a punt?

Perhaps, priced at 59 but will easily average in the 80's if fully fit. Will he average 90's, possibly but Doggies have a lot of midfielders, but nowadays they rotate so heaveily everyone gets a run in the middle at some stage.

Say for argument sake he average's 85, is that enough for a guy that costs $230k?

Id take an 80 avg from Ward if he only cost 60. Thats a great improvment from a midpricer and as said if you can time your trading a perfect upgrade to a premium 105+ avg type.

The reason people arnt picking him is because Boyd, Montagna, Hayes are some of the real elite premium mids and you probably have to start with one of them if your serious. Than Brisbane have 3 good midfield rookies and the doggies also have a few in Libba and Wallis who might be okay selections.

This along with having so many buldog, saints and brisbane lock ins around the forwards and backs, means you have to limit players from the round 4 bye of Brisbane, Stkilda and the dogs. If that means Ward misses than so be it, in my case it does.

I prefer Palmer. Avg 88 in his first year in a weaker dockers side than, than now. So if he can play aswell as he did in his first year for a quality fremantle side (eg: top 6) than his avg should improve on that 88 plus the experience and 3 extra pre seasons since than makes his avg look even higher than 88. Priced at 74 and he could very well avg 100. He also wont have to worry about tags as mentioned and has plenty of good players around him in that fremantle midfield. His engine and super strong preseason makes him hard to resist. Again you need to calculate in the Hawks, Geelong, Fremantle bye in round 6.

I personally am considering a few of these players for my 4th midfield premium spot but if i was to pick palmer may make me pick a carlton, kangaroo or essendon player instead.

Probably not going to be in anybody's DT but quietly doing well making the move into Port's midfield is Matty Broadbent. 55, 77 in NAB 2 + 3 and would've posted something decent against the Giants too with a lot of the ball + 2 goals (take it with a grain of salt). He's got DP, reasonably good job security and as I said has been playing on ball/ up forward a fair bit. If he could average 75 which i think is plausible, perhaps could use him to upgrade to someone else seeing as Port don't have the bye until R12.

He's not in my team but just some contribution on my part. :)
