Enlighten me

I agree but hes certainly one of the 4-5 im considering for my 4th premium midfield spot.
I'd take Murphy, Mitchell, Bartel, Pendles over Stanton tbh for that 4th spot. Stants has got great potential. But those guys are just safter bets IMO. But that said that's what should make him rather unique. If you want to take a gamble, by all means go ahead, could pay off big time, might get you a car, never know. But is the midfield the place where you want to take risks? There's nothing worse than having a sub par premium in the mids!

I know what your saying

But i dont think Stants will ever be a sub par premium. You could have the same concerns for Murphy, Mitchell and even Bartel could be argued. Pendles already in my teams as 3rd premium mid most likely.

I can see myself taking Murphy because i know everyone else is going to take him and its a risk to leave him out. But than again these people will never win a car!! so i have to weigh up whether to take a risk with a unique premium.

IMO the mids is the ideal position to take a unique, but you have to make sure they are certainties for 6th mid position. IMO stanton is. Where as Boak wouldnt be, but still unique. So the risk is to much to take for example with him.

Anyone thinking of Callan Ward? been in the system enough and hopefully has ainjury free run. I can see him averaging 90 but that doggies midfield is stacked...

I'm thinking of giving Rory Sloane a go - I think I have a good combination of top enders and rookies and think with Adelaide looking like there up and about this season he could take it to the next level.

either him or Brodie Martin have definitely entered into my thoughts. :thumbsu: sub-300k (250k I think?) midfielders who seem to get a lot of the thing, they could be good bets for the midpricer in midfield if you're going that way.

while we are on these guys, what are your thoughts on Bachar Houli. will certainly play and receive little attention. can easily make you some cash

i will name two very unique DT players that im sure only the maddest dters would pick

Dennis Armfield
playing further up the ground this year.
and
Mitch Robinson
is getting better each year.

still i wouldnt pick em.

Blair (81pts against WC) and Palmer (against Dogs) named in best players yesterday...mmm

David Myers? Finally looks likely to make a position his own playing key back. He's likely start a lot of attacking forays from defense, but it's too bad he's a little pricey.

Mark Nicoski doing his usual NAB super star behaviours. (Note: DO NOT PICK HIM HE IS THE BIGGGEST SPUD EVER). Just saying... every year... another NAB, another Mark Nicoski DT **** mistake is born. I wonder how many people will pick him rnd 1 based on his NAB stats rather than how everyone knows he will go in the season proper. :D

Nicoski- you would have to be a brave man/woman to pick him.

But he's not alone in the spud dept when it comes to WC.

The only two players on the entire Eagle list I would consider would be Cox and LaCras.

Sheppard looked way out of his depth, Gaff will not be a instant gun like many WCE fans thought he might be, Waters looks set for another injury prone season, Hurn will never get big DT pts, Masten...a shocker, Priddis-you would be mad to pick him instead of 10 other MFs, Selwoods-average players and Nic Nat...no thanks.

Oh i completely agree. I would go further and say there's only 1 DT relevant WCEs player.

Gotta admit I had him in - prepared to give him the benefit of the doubt after having a injury free pre-season and then I watched him play last night. Got off the couch and went and removed him immediately.

Out of curiosity, do you think Jack Darling is worth a punt

I keep hearing people were unimpressed by Gaff's game last night and are saying he'll need a lot of time: I for one thought highly of his game and disposal of the ball. Sure he could use some time in the gym and maybe the WAFL, but Freo were in a better position than the Eagles 2 years ago and he would have played all year in our team

Point to a single eagles rookie doing well in their debut season from rnd 1/2/3 since Judd (debuted rnd 2). The answer is NO ONE. Woosha = Failure to launch successful rookies unless they are mature age recruits from the WAFL that end up debuting later in the season when more fruitful names get injured.

I can't see how Armfield fits into Carlton's best 22 this year. His disposal has always been (and always will be) atrocious. Sure, he's fast. We all know that. But he rarely does anything constructive with the ball when he gets it. I think he'll end up being a depth player at best.

IMO, this is something like Carlton's best 22 for 2011.

B: Russell - Jamison - Laidler
HB: Yarran - Bower - Duigan
C: Simpson - Gibbs - Lucas
HF: Walker - Waite - Houlihan
F: Betts - Garlett - Garlett
R: Warnock - Judd - Murphy

INT: Kreuzer - Watson - Robinson
SUB: Carrazzo

I don't see who he's going to squeeze out. And there are others competing for any spot which may open up.

I don't think he's a terrible choice. Seems to have shown good poise in the NAB cup matches so far. And isn't he a dead ringer for a young Jonathan Brown? I think he'll play games this year, but not sure he will score all that well. Probably better selections in the FWDs.

Who is this other Garlett you speak of? And he's big/strong enough to handle FF?

I do agree with you though, I think you can pencil in Armfield for around 10-12 games. Won't do enough to nail a regular starting berth, but will provide depth in case of injuries/suspensions/form
