I am generally guided by what my friend prefers when it comes to payment. With some, we'll split bills, with 1 of my best friends we'll usually take turns and figure it evens out, and my other best friend we've had phases over the years where one of us has been better off and has taken on the bigger load - she worked a lot more than me during high school and uni, so paid for more, then I got a full time job while she was still studying, so it was my turn, now she's a doctor but our salaries are similar for now, and it's evened out. Have no idea who has paid more over the years, but neither of us care.

My mate and I do this for coffee

Whoever makes the cafe first - buys . As you say it evens out and if he is running short he will just say its my turn and I will pay

At restaurants we will basically just pay equal amount for each person. If you go and order something pretty expensive you may throw in a little extra to cover it. In the end it's swings and round abouts

I'm not rich by any means but spending $100 for food for some mates who will square it up down the line (those who have the means) is something I wouldn't waste a second on.

This. When we were all 18 year old uni students then dinner meant everyone chipping in to see what we could get, these days I'd rather just leave the onus with the host and if anyone is a massive freeloader who doesn't reciprocate just don't invite them to stuff.

Also allows for a terrific game in the lead up to arrival. "What time you gonna be there?". "10". "OK c u then"

turn up at 10.10. Mate shouts cause he there first

How much does a GP make? because seriously. They do fu** all most of the time. Prescribe a few antibiotics, run some bloods, refer to a specialist.
I think they make quite decent money because it's an average job that a lot of doctors don't want to do, as you said they mostly deal with people with viruses and referring more serious cases to other places. My friend is working at a hospital.

Yes but as I do not ever carry a cent on me unless I know I will need it, if said mate wants cash then I would be wanting prior notice.

Probably being better prepared re night , what you gonna do etc would be better . Especially as they are over at dinner time. As the host I would sort it out .

Americans have lost the plot.

Drew Brees (QB, New Orleans Saints) when asked about anthem kneeling protests in the NFL shared his opinion that “I will never agree with anybody disrespecting the flag of the United States of America or our country. Let me just tell what I see or what I feel when the national anthem is played and when I look at the flag of the United States. I envision my two grandfathers, who fought for this country during World War II, one in the Army and one in the Marine Corp. Both risking their lives to protect our country and to try to make our country and this world a better place. So every time I stand with my hand over my heart looking at that flag and singing the national anthem, that’s what I think about. And in many cases, that brings me to tears, thinking about all that has been sacrificed. Not just those in the military, but for that matter, those throughout the civil rights movements of the ‘60s, and all that has been endured by so many people up until this point. And is everything right with our country right now? No, it is not. We still have a long way to go. But I think what you do by standing there and showing respect to the flag with your hand over your heart, is it shows unity. It shows that we are all in this together, we can all do better and that we are all part of the solution.”.

Poor timing (he was asked a direct question) and overly patriotic 'murican horseshit but people are losing their shit. FMD it's his opinion that standing together under one flag shows unity. That's his opinion, good for him. Other players don't share it and kneel during the anthem in protest, good for them. Now (past good deeds seemingly all forgotten) he's racist, he doesn't understand why others knelt, he should shut up, white privilege blah blah blah. What happened to their first amendment obsession? No wonder their country is a mess. Can see why Tom Brady, Michael Jordan etc. usually keep their opinions to themselves.

Brees has apologised.

Lot of revisionist history going with civil rights movement and King in particular at the moment. At the time of his assassination 75% of Americans disapproved of him. I can't Imagine a teenaged Trump being a fan or even Morrison's copper dad, yet here we are everyone and his uncle citing him.

Brees has apologised.

Unreserved apology too.

FWIW Brees (and many Americans) mentality about Kaps kneeling protest is just ridiculous patriotism and citing the military is a pathetic attempt to justify a deep seated casual racism in my opinion. America won’t dip their flag to the host nation at the olympics because the flag is so important yet rednecks hang confederate flags and brandish tee shirts with the thing. It’s a bit of cloth ffs. If you think kneeling during an anthem (which has nothing to do with the flag anyway) is so disrespectful then isn’t a cop who represents the state and by extension the flag murdering a citizen or racial profiling being much more disrespectful. The logic and mental gymnastics used to condemn kneeling or marching for equality and to end police brutality is astonishing.

Brees apology was actually pretty good and certainly seemed heartfelt but his comment, especially given the timing, his home address and profession, was at best stupid and at worst shows the systemic racism and privilege he has.

I think Drew Brees should be forgiven. I feel it was heartfelt. It's done, and he and his team mates can open dialogue if they wish about it.

Its funny what 24 hours difference makes. A few mates are very patriotic MERICA (despite being aussies wtf). Yesterday YEAH DREW!!! Today? He's a traitor.

ok.

His apology was very genuine and it seems that his intention wasn’t to be divisive but I do think that there is an element of ignorance and awareness of his comments initially. We all make mistakes and Drew has always been a statesmen of the game but it’s an interesting look at how racism isn’t just the guy spouting racial slurs or cops killing non whites but can really be a lack of awareness of the issues.
