Kate Bush is/was just alright. Couple of catchy lines per song here or there doesn't make you some revolutionary artist. Britney Spears (with time) will be regarded as the better lyricist.
Not unpopular. Just downright wrong. Kate is a legend.

I think it might also reflect demographics. Until Stranger Things, Kate Bush was 'just' an 80s artist who released Wuthering Heights and a few other hits and had largely faded from the public consciousness.

Personally I didn't grow up with her and so did many of my friends, so someone like Britney Spears is more influential on a later generation's musical tastes.

Also not sure where 'Britney is the better lyricist' comes from as she didn't write most of her hits and Max Martin was the biggest reason for her initial hit album and singles.

At nineteen.

FYI, Kate Bush was discovered by Pink Floyd's Dave Gilmore as a 16yo. When released Wuthering Heights was considered a 'novelty song' and because it was so unique it took some persuasion and industry contacts to initially have it played on the radio...

Britney Spears? FFS, she's be lucky to make top 50 of renowned female lyricist's...!

She's the female version of Huey Lewis imo. People know the name but couldn't name more than three songs.

Susan Boyle has the best selling debut album of all time in the UK so lets not go thinking the British have any idea about music.

I like Deltas voice.

Sorry but I do.

Goodrem is decent, but I've never heard her live - which is my pedantic qualification specifically for Australian artists/voices.

Accordingly, which should generate some 'unpopular opinions', interested to know who the 'best male and female Aussie artist/voice' (not specifically bands) you and others have heard live..? Feel free to include when/where/why..?

Female voice - Marica Hines - 1986 - Intercontinental Sydney - Australia's Whitney Houston, spell-bounding performance.
Male voice - John Farnham - 1991 - Myer Music bowl Melbourne - 'The Voice', in his pomp his range was incredible.

Katie Noonan springs to mind. I'm not a fan of Tina Arena but she's got a good voice, she's well recognised in France. For males I'll probably think of more later but Billy Thorpe, Stevie Wright, and even Bernard Fanning. Agree on John Farnham, his range and control is incredible.

Buble is good live and has great banter with the audience.

Makes a difference if the performer actually engages.

My uncle went and saw Bob Dylan and he was a huge fan but when he saw him he was so disappointed that Dylan just walked out played his songs and walked off. Bit meh

The worst live band I’ve seen out of the very big bands is the Chili Peppers. Kiedis can’t sing, they’re good musicians individually but there’s no “spirit” or something about them.

I’ve seen them three times in 96, 01ish and 08 and 08 was the worst. Shit set list, a really annoying crowd, self indulgent jams and just nothing awesome.

Yep. And i think my affection towards Mike Patton triggers more dislike for them

Now Mike Patton is a great vocalist and pulls it off live, saw FNM and Tomahawk at festivals and he’s as good as they get.

He can sing anything too, from lounge music to death metal to rap to anything in between
