The towel in US sports started with Pittsburgh Steelers and their ground announcer Myron Cope in 1975 was asked to come up with something that will more intensely involve the Steelers fans. He introduced the Terrible Towel.

My mate in Queensland is a Steelers fan. I rented a room off him in 2004 when I lived in Brisbane, but he never really told me how big a fan he was until January 2011. His cousin in Pittsburgh rang him and said if the Steelers made it thru to the AFC championship game he had a ticket for him at Heinz Stadium. They make it, he jumps on a plane to go watch the game, they win he is over the moon as they go to the Super Bowl and he sends me the links I posted above and a few more, a few days before Super Bowl XLV when he got home. Unfortunately for him the Packers won the Super Bowl 31-25 with the winning touch down 2 minutes to go.

Having been a member of a Port interstate supporter group, the best link he sent me was this one - Calling Steeler Nation by Mike Stout - which I, and Ford, have posted before on big footy and I have written to Port to say this is the model we should use to connect with our interstate supporters as Port is the only club in those annual Roy Morgan surveys, that has less than 80% of its supporters live in its home state.

No you need to read more carefully. He went to the AFC Championship game at Heinz Stadium to see Pittsburgh win - but he flew home a few days later before the Super Bowl at Cowboys Stadium.

The Jerry Dome is an amazing place from everything I have seen and even my mate in Dallas is impressed with it. He reckons the High Five expressway interchange just outside Dallas CBD is more impressive, ie 5 levels of roads passing over each other.

About 3 weeks ago it made the news in Oz because a semi trailer had a crash and the machine it was carrying - wasnt a bulldozer but a similar earth moving vehicle - was dangling over the edge of the top level road and they had to shut the whole system down for a few hours.

Went to Jerrydome a couple years ago, had to go through the 5 levels of roads on the way there.

Both are spectacular. Jerrydome could've been half a billion less if they hadn't splurged on marble from Italy and opals from Australia and unnecessary stuff like that.

Honestly though, the big screens got me hard. 6 stories tall by 10 stories long and there are two of them. joke.

I have two opinions that will most likely be unpopular....

1. Port should change their logo to the PA logo seen on many of he New Era caps. Our logo is terrible, probably the worst in the AFL. You go to games now and anyone under the age of 40 is wearing the New Era PA logo caps because they are stylish, simple and not the typical lame AFL design. Our current logo has a hand holding a lightning bolt.......
I think our logo is out-dated too, but we can't use that particular PA one. It's copyrighted/owned by New Era and not Port Adelaide....

I hate the PA logo on those caps. It looks unbalanced and clumsy
... and so gives us room to make a better monogram. If we're into monograms, that is.

My seemingly unpopular opinion is that our logo and club song are great as they are and shouldn't be "updated"
Song is alright and logo will pass but it is around 15 years old now.Other clubs do it so no law against it.
Might be a marketing thing as some people might not want to wear a shirt or Guernsey with the old logo on it.They might buy new apparel to keep up with the club?

Not saying im completely against a change....I just like what we have. knowing the current regime we wouldn't make a change unless it was for something pretty on point. could be wrong but I think just about every other club that's made a logo change in the past decade has been for the worse. hawthorn possibly an exception? cant think of any others

Did some amazing things in the second half of '10 that seemingly went unnoticed. Oh well.

He's such a Centrals AFL product. Does one or two things insanely well, but never in conjunction consistently.

I think we should change our name from the Port Adelaide Power to the Port Adelaide Thunder.

main reason is I'm sick of hearing the one and only headline "The Power is Switched On"

The Thunder makes a blunder? o_O Opposition supporters will always think up something derogatory with your name.

The Thunder Get Plundered
Tight Loss Leaves Thunder Wondering
Thunder Go Under
Thunder Torn Asunder

Already have NT Thunder up here.We get that belted down our throats all the time.
There was a team on the Tiwi Islands called Pumarali Lightning and thunder.

And the caption "Coach feels the strain in the Thunder box" on a match day picture.
