The feeling I'm getting from this thread;

**** it
We are doomed
Lets just shut up shop and don't even board the bus to renmark
PAFC is dead

Kane Cornes will finish at our club as Port's best player in the AFL. Warren will always be seen as the best though by the supporters.

Adelaide Oval will not save us.

Because Warren was the best CHF in the world for half a decade. Kane, even at his 04-07 best, was just another very good midfielder.

Brett Ebert will retire from the AFL (rather than be delisted), and be a fairly positive contributor in his final years.

Not really my opinion, but what I forsee happening.

I didn't rate Matthew Primus as highly as others did as a player (not as a dud, just not the dominant force as he was regarded). He was great at bullocking but didn't seem to be able to hit guys down the throat like Cox, Sandilands and Lade have showed at their ceiling. I rate this attribute highest out of rucks, obvs.

Granted, his prime occurred as my understanding of the game was developing in my teenage years, so I'm happy to hear differently.

Adelaide Oval IS going to save us.

It's going to enjoyable going to the footy again. We'll have neutrals up the wazoo. We will grow the pie. We will be attractive to sponsor again. The football narrative in this state will change to the optimism similar to what we see in WA and surrounding most Vic clubs.

It was therefore no surprise to see him go for the head coaching job following Williams' axing, a job surely even he could have foreseen he was incapable of performing with any success.

Not long after primus got the job, I was working with what I would call a bit of a port legend who had also been an assistant coach at the power. He had talked to primus only a couple of months earlier asking him if he would ever go for the head coaching job. Matty said to him that he wouldn't as he thought he didn't have it in him; he just didn't see the things in the game that choco and other head coaches saw.

Primus was a very good tap ruckman, not great but very good, but it wasnt his tap work that made him so dominant. Whilst the likes of Lade and Cox could hit an already moving midfielder with a deft over the shoulder tap that looks like a thing of beauty, Primus' was all done through brute strength. He'd wrestle his opponent out of it, take the ball out of the ruck (often with one hand whilst holding the opponent off with the other) and dish off a handball to a running midfielder on the outside of the pack OR kick it quickly forward. Very different ruck styles but with a very similar result.

Two rules were introduced to stop the exact thing that Primus did. No straight arm 'dont argue' blocking the opposition ruckmans run & holding the ball when taking the ball out of the ruck. His 01 & 02 were definitely equal in quality to Lades golden 06 & 07.

I wish we would get the chip off our shoulder and stop trying to force a rivalry with the Crows. If we could develop a friendly atmosphere at our games for Crows supporters who are open to supporting both teams, then that's more people at games = more money for us.
the crows supporters are the problem. they have a handful of players i actually really like (walker, sloan, thompson). i cant stand the ignorance and idiocy of a majority of their supporters

Justin Westhoff does not need to put on any more weight.

And I'm not sure that Macca is saying this exactly but Primus was a magnificent ruckman before all the knee injuries finished him. He genuinely intimidated opposition players.

Terry Wallace when coaching described Primus as a rogue bull elephant and admitted his coaching panel were never sure how to counteract him.

- Travis Boak should not be captain, has not shown enough.
- We have the worst ruck stock in the AFL
- Renouf, Mitchell, Colquhoun and J.Butcher will all be retired or delisted within 3 years
- (I hope im wrong about this one cause i love wingard but..) i dont think wingard will ever be as good as his hype
- Gray will never be the same after his last injury
hawthorn? do they even have stock? geelong? H-Mac isnt that much and Vardy is there best and he has played all of what? 5 games.
