Arsene Wenger Interview
'We need to recover quickly before Milan on Wednesday'

on a very bad day...
"Positive points are difficult to find because overall we were not up to the level of the game. We know that and the players know that aswell. It is difficult to find positives in our game. The only one I can see is that we do not have anymore injuries than we had at the start of the game."

on the rest of the season...
"The targets that are in front of us are very clear. They are the Premier League and the Champions League. We are not in a position where we have to make a choice. We just have balanced fixtures now. We need to pick ourselves up quickly because we have a massive game on Wednesday night."

on ever having serious thoughts of a treble...
"Not really but you try and make a choice as late as you can. It is a difficult to swallow for the players today because it looked like we did not have the physical resources to come back into the game. We need to recover quickly because we need to be at our best to beat Milan."

on concern over Nani's juggling...
"And rightly so. Nani had a very good game today but it was not needed. It is a little bit [disrespectful]. But it can happen to a young player. I hope he learns from that and does not do it again.."

on the red card...
"It looked harsh from outside. The game was over after the sending off and maybe even before because we never looked like we could come back today."

on heavy defeats in the Cups...
"At the moment it is unbelievable. When we lose in the cup we get a hiding. We don't concede in the League but when we do concede we do it well!"

on injury problems...
"Nobody was fit on the bench and all of them were recommended as risky. The most dangerous player was Clichy who I did not touch at all. The others had hamstring problems."

on the League fixture in April...
"You will see us in a different shape when we come back and I hope the pitch will be in different shape aswell."

A few random and pissed off thoughts on the game:

  • Eboue was shite
  • Eboue needs to **** off right now. Sell him. Pay someone to take him. I don't care. Just get rid of him
  • Gilberto, sadly, is past it. He can say all he likes about not playing, but when he plays like that, he doesn't deserve to play.
  • Eboue was shite
  • Jens had an exceptional game, and we still lost 4-0
  • Toure needs to be rested big time over the next few weeks. He looked very lethargic. Play Senderos midweek.
  • Gallas showed none of the leadership that he has for the past season.
  • I was less embarrassed by the Carling Cup game.
  • I'm almost as embarrassed as I was at the James Hird/Kevin Sheedy game last year.
  • Eboue was shite
  • Traore looked like he has promise. He just needs to learn to cross, defend, head the ball, and shoot.
  • Hoyte was poor.
  • Eboue was an embarrassment. I have never hated a player on my team (Camporeale when he first joined Essendon included) more.
  • Hleb was invisible.
  • Bendtner and Eduardo likewise.
  • Cesc was very well marked by Carrick
  • Flamini gave a toss. I've decided whose name will go on the back of my shirt.
  • Nani was disrespectful with the juggling. Flamini showed him class and dignity
  • Eboue was shite
  • Anderson was very good
  • Eboue was shite
/rant

There's probably more, though.

As much as I hate to say it, good post. We played like absolute sh*t. Eboue is and has been useless ever since Sagna was purchased. Should offload him while he's still worth something.

Eboue should be sold before his value drops away more then it already has.

eboue has value?
who the **** are you kidding?

eboue was shit, i said it during the match, he was ****ing awful!

i still want an eduardo, i thought he, hleb & lehmann were the best over the 90 minutes, granted hleb didn't have any ball, and he was really friggen pissed off when he did get it.

lehmann was the exceptional arsenal player.
i don't take anything from fabregas's performance, he was just far too tired, and he is sick playing with a throat infection!

Eboue really is useless. We need a genuine winger, and Eboue is just a right wing back. His only use is to play second fiddle for Sagna at RB. In the however many premier league games he has played as a right mid, he hasn't scored a single goal. Not one!! Even Derby mids have better records than that!

FWIW I'd much rather Walcott start at right mid over Eboue.

eboue has value? who the **** are you kidding?

Apparently Juventus and Milan have an interest in him. Or had, now that he's proven himself shit maybe he is worth nothing.

take it easy you lot - the bloke has just come back from ACN, and sure he was poor but the bloke is still young and playing a role that is still very unfamiliar to him. He has great pace and is v good running at players. We got him for bugger all... so any value he has would be more than what we paid for him and some..

Wenger more often than not develops a player very well.

show some patience and have some ****en faith

look, i've said previously, when he is in top form he is devestating, one of the best wingers in the league with his pace, his aggression, and especially when he crosses correctly he can put it spot on, on top of adebayors noggen, or right onto the laces of rvp, and smash it into the back of the net.
except that form is so rare, so inconsistent, so far between in games, and it even fluctuates through games, imo it makes him a very poor player.
On top of that, the guy can't tackle for marbles, and i'm sure its not malicious and mostly accidental, but the guy usually doesn't have any awareness what-so-ever.

if wenger can develop him into a quality winger, i'll be happy. until then we should stick with the development of walcott, he shows a lot of signs, especially coming in from the left.

I'm not a fan of Eboue at all. Has great potential to become a quality footballer but ...

Almost every match he comes up with a poor tackle, an elbow or slap off the ball. Not to mention he dives and rolls around on the ground if someone brushes his shirt.

Nope, I'd rather he leave the club as he keeps persisting with these antics.

i do agree about him becomming a top footballer, its there you can see it. but no doubt it pisses supporters off to no end when he does something so stupid...

isn't it his second red card this season?

and to add to that benno, he gets warned every match for a poor tackle. ref's give him so leniency because its always accidental. i'm sure if he meant those tackles he would go close to killing the poor bastards, he has it in him, PSYCHO! EEE EE EE EEEE AAARRRGGHHH

Talent isn't the only thing I look for in a player.
Not being a w***er is high on the list.

A mate asked me today if I would take Nani for 2m. I said no, because of the juggling. Anyone who is that disrespectful I don't want.

Eboue was that disrespectful to the fans.

Our fans were excellent though, "We'll be back to win the league":D

Agree. He was showing steady improvement before the ACN.

Arsenal's frustration after drawing a blank in their FA Cup fifth-round tie with Blackburn, their first goalless domestic game at their new Emirates Stadium, provoked an extraordinary verbal attack by Cesc Fabregas on Rovers manager Mark Hughes.

The pair could be seen exchanging angry words after the final whistle, after which Hughes said: "When we shook hands at the end, the young man asked me a question which I thought was disrespectful. He asked me if I had played for Barcelona and when I said yes, he shook his head as if in disbelief. Then he said, 'Well, that wasn't Barcelona football'."

Over to you Ben.

Over to you Ben.

What Cesc said was true. Blackburn play shit football. Barca do not. Therefore what Blackburn played was not Barca football.

Nani did the footballing equivalent of spitting in our faces. I don't deny he's a very good player - he is. But he's an arrogant tosser.

You try and chop him at the kneecaps. You either succeed or you don't. When the final whistle goes you get over it.

To suggest you wouldn't take Nani for £2m, just because he acted like a w@nker is cutting off your nose to spite your face (and I don't particularly rate Nani either).

Some good news regarding injuries ...

Senderos, Denilson and Walcott will return from injury.

Clichy, Adebayor and Flamini are fit to start.

Sagna is also back after taking a week off because of a family tragedy (older brother's death).

Fabregas did pick up an injury scare in training but the club expects him to be fit enough to play.

Diaby, Song, Djourou, RVP, Rosicky and Almunia are still not available though. Expected team ...

------------------Lehmann------------------
----Sagna-----Toure----Gallas-----Clichy----
------------------Gilberto--------------------
---Hleb-----Fabregas---Flamini----Eduardo----
------------------Adebayor--------------------

Subs: Fabianski, Senderos, Hoyte, Eboue, Denilson, Walcott, Bendtner
