Nah, does nothing for me. Someone earlier said it's too camp - 100% agree. The original is fuucked, messing with it just makes it worse. Need an entirely new thumper of a song - not this wish-wash rubbish.
There was nothing wrong with the 1980s club song or wings, yet they did a great job screwing both up over the years.

The verses are a bit boring and not catchy enough to sing along to. The chorus is a slight improvement from the previous version, but it's still not as upbeat as the original version.
Karnivool guy sings it way too casually, does not sound like an anthem at all. It needs to be sung with more passion.

I forgot how negative a bunch we have on this board. I for one think it is a good improvement.

There is only one downside - my wife will be relieved of her duty to squeeze my nuts to help me get the high notes.

Come on posters, let's not be negative Nancies. Birds of Tokyo are a local band although they probably do not resonate with our Chardonnay set.

Actually I don’t mind it at all.
More expansive lyrics, musically more polished.

Oh and I will be able to sing it with out having to feel like castration was the only way I was ever going to be able to hit the high notes.

Give it time folks it will grow on you.

Yet to hear it - stuck at work

However the absolute starting point of a club song is - can 22 footballers scream it in celebration at the end of match and it not sound shit?

The giants some seems "funny" until the players sing it - then it is mint.

The lyrics the players sing haven’t changed. They’ve added more verses after but I doubt they’ll get sung in the rooms.

I think there’s two schools of thought on it and they’re clashing in the thread.

The song itself is fine. It’s a decent piece of audio. The clapping sticks and didgeridoo are great, old mate Birds of Tokyo is a great singer so the vocals sound good. Fine enough piece of audio.

But it’s not a footy song. Footy songs are defiant, punchy, they’re for 22 people to scream at eachother after pulling out a famous victory. Footy songs are a “**** you, we won” war cry. A game winning goal after the siren should be greeted with screaming of syllables and the occasional “wooooo”.

Do we seriously think Luke Shuey is going to lead the boys in the nice long held sounds of “booooooooooooornnnnnn is priiiiiiiiiiiiide, from iiiiiiisooolaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaatiooooooooon.”

As a song? No issues. Interesting take on the traditional Eagles tune.

As a club song though? Nah. Just...nah.
