If you are "cutting off any friends" over an election on the other side of the planet, rest assured you are on no loss to that person whatsoever. No need to feel high and mighty, you're doing them a favour
You have friends?

Let’s be honest they need to appeal to racists
Correct! I was out all day yesterday at a training session. Never met the participants before and most in the 20-30 age group with about 5 older. Majority Trump fans.

It isn't just BF poster interested in the elections it was the main topic with some sneakily looking at their phone checking results. Most talked about fixing immigration and some thought the economy and lifting up the poor. About 5 were critical of Kamala's laugh.

Pretty much reflective of many BF posters.

in the red neck states and have a white young guy leading the races if there is a future election …which I very much doubt there will be in honesty
Losing the Senate and the House will empower him more.

Interestingly the US dollar and and ours down.

4 more years, Yuk.

That's fine, if that's the principle and you stick to it and announce that as the reason. Will BYD cars made in Thailand be allowed into the US? This is also where a lot of Australian cars are made.
It will be a bit more nuanced than just everybody gets tariffed Trump will likely use it as leverage to make better business deals but time will tell.

2020
81 million voted for Biden
74 million voted for Trump

2024
71 million for Trump
67 million for Harris

14 million people chose not to vote and the Democrats need to work out why they failed to engage those people to vote
That's a massive drop off

Being a soundboard and repeating the same script for months
Claiming to want to fix things when you're in office and showed no signs of doing any of it
Immigration

The key drivers IMO.

So the people you were at a training session with that you never met before where all racists because they talked about fixing immigration or just because they like Trump? I'm confused with your logic

Because he's basically weekend at bernie's at this point?
He was weekend at bernies in 2020 too? Repealing tariffs isnt even a 10 minute job. He didnt do it or even try to do it. Kamala didnt say she would repeal them either. Infact she had no stance or policies on tariffs at all.

If it was as big a issue as you are saying then Kamala would have campaigned on it. She didnt. Gotta ask why that is

Clearly pandering to the centre/right did not work for the Democrats. They lost ground in valuable demographics and yet still made no in roads with Independents or Republicans. Have to become a true progressive party instead of just being Republican-lite

Unfortunately I’m seeing some narratives that Harris lost because she was too left wing.

Some, whether out of intellectual convenience or actual naivety, do think voters run along a line left to right and so long as you’re just a little to the left of the Republicans (but not too far), you’re going to pick up everyone to your left. It’s an incredibly simplistic view, especially as people are less and less ideologically coherent.

I am seeing the same thing and it's incredibly disheartening. In a country with compulsory voting maybe you get away with it - the Australian Labor Party being the prime example of this. Just doesn't work in the US

I don't like them either. Why don't they repeal them? I don't know. Fk them. I agree with you those guys suck!

Why is Trump still thinking they're the answer when they are shown to just increase expenditure for Americans? His initial rationale was that it would bring manufacturing back to America. Did that happen? Even in part?

Being 22 minutes late to your own concession speech you should have made 12 hours ago is all types of cringe.
Yeah she obviously has no respect for her consituence but the left can get away from any accountability. She didn't even have to concede last night but at least address the thousands of people that are there for you. Apparently a fair few of them were very torn about her not showing up and doing that to them. The left are burning bridges in a lot of cases. The only thing they really have going for them is the Trump hatred/derangement.

The real story of the numbers is that Trump lost 2 million votes from 2020 and Harris lost 15 million from what Biden's 2020 tally. It was that Harris and the Dems weren't selling a winning strategy.

The story is that Harris and the Dems lost, because they tried to not upset anybody, tried to be all things to all people and ended up being nothing to anybody. A good economy which didn't serve the middle and lower classes. A passive foreign policy which led to seemingly endless wars in Ukraine and Palestine.

Ignoring things like men in womens' sports and children having gender affirmation surgery in a very partriarchal and religious society.

Vigorously nodding through this only to equally vigorously shake my head at the last paragraph.

On his campaign trail he admitted his biggest mistake was not using tariffs enough in his last term. He didnt succeed in the previous attempt to bring manufacturing back to America but he will try it again with harsher tariffs then he went with last time

The complete lie that he did a A grade job last time is that. He made many mistakes as he admitted on Joe Rogan. He will just have to learn from them and make changes. One of those places to start with is the tariff policy and putting it in place properly

That's a very good and fair question and lots of media say no, I've seen some industries and workers say it did. Time will tell and it'll be interesting to see how they are implemented this time around and what effects it has.

So you believe basically that, If its broken, then dont fix it

Not very realistic. He didnt fix it because Biden didnt believe it was broken
Either you didn't read the article or you didn't understand it.

I get it.
