Tips:

Haileybury -v- Uni

If OC is right about the injuries being carried by Boffa and Corrigan, then Uni are a show. I'm tipping both will play and pose problems. Even then, there's a truckload of other quality players in Haileybury jumpers, and I think they'll get over the line by 8 points.

Scotch -v- Xavs

Please, oh please let it be Xavs. Sadly, they're tapering the wrong way at the wrong end, and Scotch will be going into this one with more confidence than normal (despite the hiccup against OMs). Scotch by 4 goals

Old Ivanhoe -v- DLS

Write your own ticket - Hoers by a mile

Old Brighton -v- Old Essendon

Euphoric at making it into the finals, I think the Bombers may just manage to go one more week here. Old Essendon by 11 points.

Best of luck to everyone concerned, I think I'll be using my season's pass to sneak in to watch the A Grade 2nd semi - should be a cracker!!

I've got a nice early start at Elsternwick Park for De La and Old Ivanhoe in the reserves on Saturday

Eddie

What's Ian Bell's average if you take out the games against Bangladesh...?

Keilor Hill's wild child, Trent "Skuzzer" Skurrie is back from football exile and is primed to show B grade that his early season form was no fluke. He's got a lot to prove as the boys from The OC make the short trek up beach rd to watch their favourite son in Navy, Sky and Maroon.

Dave "Box" Forrest is kicking goals on and off the field and is back to the form which saw him take out the 2000 EDFL League B & F.

Sean "Big Dog" Towner is paying $6.00 for the G.T Moore medal and will continue to be the rock solid foundation of Centreway East's backline.

I think they will miss gun midfielder Danny Ryan though!

Go Bombers!!!

Any news on Big Haks, Pineapple? I havent heard much about the highly touted forward in VAFA circles of late. Perhaps his notoriety has be stolen by another Essendon forward, D Flaherty...

Big Mac, I saw Hakim at the casino on his way to Odean Nightclub saturday and he said he's lost the passion for the game since he had his marriage arranged for him. He said he can't commit to the club because he's going to be spending a lot of time in Dubai.

Whats Michael Clarkes average if you take out games against India?

Excuse me Eddie, but if I'm not mistaken, India are a worthy test playing nation. Bangladesh would struggle to beat a District 3rd XI.

How many test centuries has Pietersen made? oh that's right, the same as his catch tally.....

The point is just as valid, why dismiss one players tallies against a country just because you say they are ********? May as well take out Clarkies best series as well, its only fair  Clarke struggles against pace bowlers, so of course he would make runs in India.

But of course its only fair to dismiss a player as ******** in their 2nd series of test cricket isnt it?

Bangladesh are crap, don't kid yourself Eddie. If England weren't winning Bell would have been dropped by now. And an SOS to Mark Butcher (LOL) made.

Was at the footy today and realised how pathetic and insipid our football club is!!! Never seen a softer and more intimidated bunch of girls, my dead grandmother would've produced better goods out there today. As for sleighta he needs to look at giving the leadership away as a good leader performs in finals like the big guns such as voss hird etc. The two livo boys need to give it away as there mother made a mistake giving birth. And i'm surprised if all our sponsors don't pull the pin, as i am officially jumping off a sinking ship and getting on board ormond's wagon. The likes of Miller and Robbins are just a class above and i would love to kiss their feet. Go the monds!!
The retired Staffy #2
p.s can i get a clearance please!!

Thrilling finish at Cramer St. yesterday.

West Brunswick lead St. Johns by 5 goals at half-time, but, by 3/4 time, St. Johns had hit the front by 4 points.

The last quarter was amazing. St. Johns won with a goal to my end at the 27th minute mark..then the next 5 minutes were as pressure packed as they come.

Congrats to the following sides on reaching promotion after the weekend.

A Grade welcomes back De La Salle after an upset win over Old Ivanhoe.
B Grade welcomes back Beaumaris after they beat Old Paradians.
C Grade welcomes back Ormond after they beat Prahran.
D1 welcomes Rupertswood, thanks to their win over Peninsula Old Boys.
Thanks to my last post, D2 welcome St. Johns.
And finally, D3 have welcomed St. Marys.

The Tigers are still alive in B Reserves :) Benny MOF is under an injury cloud though.. :-(

Well done to all promoted sides, and best of luck in your respective GFs.

Can't say the De La win surprises me, but I wish they found a better home deck to host us in 2006!! With Brighton comfortably accounting for the Bombers, will they ram a dagger into the heart of The Hoers this weekend?

Up in A, well the beer would've tasted sour for the Scotchies at 5ish on Saturday. Now all they can hope for is a reserves flag (for which they'd be short priced now). Uni are well and truly in the box seat as I reckon Haileybury -v- Xavs will be a tough physical encounter, but the Bloods have struggled during the season, and I think the Red 'n Blacks will earn another crack at the title.

Still, don't listen to me, I managed to tip 0 out of 4 from the A/B grade matches - perhaps I should stick to U19s footy!!

Speaking of which - that Rupertswood juggernaut just continues to gather momentum, and with their U19s in a Section 2 GF, they've got a wonderful base to launch a senior D Grade assault next season.

All the Best

Congratulations to Joel Rice and Andrew Ramsden on their joint win in the Woodrow Medal last night.

On a personal note, for the big fella to be adjudged the equal B&F in A Grade nearing 32 years of age is a testament to his longevity and commitment to getting as much out of himself on the field, as well as having a few quiet ones off. Universally popular throughout the Ammos, last years All Australian Amateur captain has just one more honour remaining to cap off a great career. Here's hoping we can work towards it in 2006!!

As for Rice - absolute gun and if Box Hill don't pick him up next season (assuming he doesn't get drafted) then they've got rocks in their head. Absolute gun.

Well done to both boys.

All I know of is that Marcellin just about swept the pool.
Brett Dobson, along with Paul Corrigan from OH and Mark Paterson of Uni Blues won the Coaches MVP award.
Joel Rice backed up his Woodrow win with the Rising Start award, and Tom Stafford won the Under-19 Section 1 B&F
Not a bad night for the Eagles, their website also mentions a win for Cam Woods at Flemington on Saturday as well.......

1. consider who voted.
2. gross exaggeration

agreed though, he had a great year.

1. who else do you think should vote? Obviously the coach's MVP result was different, but I can't see how else you can select a competition B&F. If you're implying that he gets an armchair ride from the umps, well perhaps that brings me to my second point.....

2. Granted, I was gushing, and probably feeling guilty for not attending the night in person because I plain forgot and my free feed went begging!!

Perhaps I'll peel it back to "highly respected" by players and coaches alike (as I believe most players, if not supporters, in A Grade would say he's good value, and every other coach would kill for someone like him in their side).

NB - his days as first ruck are numbered, so don't be surprised if he starts terrorising opposition key defenders more often in the years to come.
