Because Cricket Victoria has booted Old Melburnians off the Junction Oval.I'm sure it has been discussed here in the past, but can anybody enlighten me as to why OM's have access to League HQ's?
And the school denying them the use of the facilities at Todd Road.Because Cricket Victoria has booted Old Melburnians off the Junction Oval.
And don't I know it...Fitzroy was meant to play OM's in the last ever football game at the Junction, very fitting as we were the last VFL/AFL club to play there. But alas! us old Fitzroy people got shafted again and didn't get to send off the game of Australian Rules at the ground.Because Cricket Victoria has booted Old Melburnians off the Junction Oval.
Rationale is $$$$ which they have truckloads of!And don't I know it...Fitzroy was meant to play OM's in the last ever football game at the Junction, very fitting as we were the last VFL/AFL club to play there. My point is, if Albert Park, South Melbourne Districts or Power House were forced to leave the AP precinct, there is no way known the VAFA would have offered Elsternwick Park as their home ground...and still have them playing home games there nearly 10 years later. I'm sure there are facilities elsewhere (i.e Fawkner Park for example) that OM's could be using. IMHO it doesn't seem fair, I'm certain there is a rational reason why they are still at HQ's
Yep figured as muchRationale is $$$$ which they have truckloads of!
OM’s are a tenant of the Bayside council. Just like Elsternwick Cricket and Football clubs and the VAFA. The VAFA don’t own EP, the council do. The club has been nomads for years since leaving Fawkner Park having been booted off various venues for reasons beyond their control.I'm sure it has been discussed here in the past, but can anybody enlighten me as to why OM's have access to League HQ's?
Stephen Privitera who is Umpire operations Manager wants us to return to having training venues away from EP too. The biggest issue has been Old Melburnians demanding the umpires train at EP on Monday and Wednesday instead of Tuesday/Thursday. That move killed off the alternate venue model that was working.
Could Westbourne return as the Western group hub? Northern based umpires back to Fitzroy?
ClubbiesAre Westbourne even alive this year? Not in the D3 or D4 fixture.

You keep asking the same thing !With the official start of the 2023 VAFA season drawing closer, what's the state of play regarding Old Mentonians being in the VAFA for this season? Would it just be a Club 18 team for Men's and a Women's side to represent the Panthers this year?
Maybe ring the VAFA Jase. It might be a better solution to the continuous questions. With the official start of the 2023 VAFA season drawing closer, what's the state of play regarding Old Mentonians being in the VAFA for this season? Would it just be a Club 18 team for Men's and a Women's side to represent the Panthers this year?
10/10/however many are left.Going to take a lot of work to get Old Mentonian's team up and going again next year. Good luck to them if they can though!
Without Old Mentone, the flow on is 1 club relegated in each of C, D1, D2 etc. this season. Likely spells end of D4 competition (6 teams this year) I think. What should the Divisions structure look like moving forward?
Perhaps the HQ gurus have decided that a 7 division league is just too much.
Which clubs ?Won’t be a D4, 1 club pretty much gone in 24, and another seriously considering
Which clubs ?
Old Parade and Ivanhoe Amateurs?Northern suburbs - both of them
Old Parade and Ivanhoe Amateurs?
Two VAFA stalwarts. That's just a shame for the competition. They were the ones I was thinking too

cant see Chicken Wings ole boys Bulleen Temp leaving the ammos chumpy champ!I think Oldtimer was suggesting Bulleen-Temp and Parkside?
Seriously though, I believe OP's had a little look two years ago, but had internal push back. So unless, things have changed under a new committee then not sure where they are at in relation to this suggestion.
As for our club, I think our committee has been very transparent with players, all of us members and the VAFA that they are working through what their plans for the future could look like. A part of that is what competition we are compete in. In chatting with our President recently, he advised a bunch of us that they are working through a process to get all the information, understand what best supports the the club currently and moving forward, coming to a position and building a plan for the club and then putting in front of all members what the current committees thoughts are on our clubs next 5-10 years.
It will be interesting to see what they come up with
