That doesn’t seem to me to be the best way to celebrate the winners and grow the game. I for one am not on that email distribution list!

The 2023 VAFA Grand Finals venues should look like this:

Division 1-4: Garvey Oval/Toorak Park/Scammell Reserve
Premier C: Trevor Barker Oval
Premier B: Trevor Barker Oval
Premier: Trevor Barker Oval

When they have the ability to get Coburg (as they did fully this year), Box Hill and even Williamstown - they don't need to use Ammo venues outside of womens and under 19s.

Like this:

Premier and Premier B: Sandringham
Premier C and Division 1: Coburg
Division 2 and Division 3: Box Hill
Division 4 and Premier Womens: Williamstown
Premier B Womens to Womens Division 3: Elsternwick Park
Under 19s Divisions 1 to 4: Garvey Oval
Under 23s, Thirds and Masters: Waverley Oval

No thanks , your not going to play say Mazenod and Hampton at Coburg

You can make geographical changes if need be...but I have to say the work done at Coburg (4 change rooms under the stand for clubs and a new umpires room), make it a no-brainer for finals. And Williamstown is truthfully under utilised (the WRFL simply refuse to use it).

Whatever happens. Elsternwick Park needs a serious break.

Why are you going to play in the northern suburbs when most of the teams are in the south east. Coburg just to far to go.

Were there any teams of the year this year?
I attended the awards night on Wednesday night. I’d think
it would attract more people to the night if each section announced a team of the year.
It would be just recognition for the player and coach of the year.
Yes it would make the formalities longer but only recognising two or three players per section isn’t ideal.
On a side note I had zero contact all year long from my scribe for the weekly write up. Disappointing considering when I last coached in the VAFA I had a weekly call from the scribe which only improved the report but the accuracy of it.

If that's the case, why should have they had the Division 1 grand final between PEGS and Old Camberwell at Sandringham and force the C Grade finals first week to Moansh Uni and Bellfield? Coburg was available all weekend that week.

Surely it would be a good idea for the VAFA to send 4 representative teams to the Northern Territory in the pre-season prior to the start of the 2023 VAFA season?

The VAFA 'tour' or fixtures of the Northern Territory would be as follows:

AFL NT Womens v VAFA Womens (Alice Springs)
NTFL Under 18 v VAFA Under 18 (Alice Springs)
Tiwi Islands FL v VAFA Div-1-4 (Tiwi Islands)
NTFL v VAFA Premier -Premier C (Darwin)

The VAFA would be better off going to the Northern Territory and doing something good for NT football as a whole instead of sending a team or two at considerable time and expense, going halfway round the world to Ireland.

Considering all that has gone on in the VAFA (off-field ie resignation of Brett Connell as VAFA CEO, resignation of Shoana McInness as VAFA Board member), what do you reckon will happen at the 2022 VAFA Annual General Meeting? And what would also be of interest on that night will be the VAFA's financial situation as well.

Jas,i don't think the NTFL has ever forgiven the Ammos for the result in '79!

As a way of getting into the swing of things, maybe when the Executive gets introduced at the start they could play the Benny Hill theme. Whaddayareckon, Jase?

One topic that will certainly be up for discussion at VAFA AGM night would be the future of Elsternwick Park as the 'on-field' HQ of the VAFA.

Maybe what the VAFA should do is keep Elsternwick Park/Sportscover Arena as the administrative HQ (ie tribunal, board meetings etc) with the playing arena used only for VAFA umpires training, but the major on-field action (ie VAFA Premier Grand Final) based at Sandringham. In hindsight, the VAFA should've moved all major on-field events like rep matches, grand finals to Sandringham as early as 2004. You don't have to be Einstein to come to the conclusion that Elsternwick Park-like VFL Park Waverley-had long outlived its usefulness, and it didn't have the aura or the impact it once had during the 1970s and early 1980s.

Don't forget it is the home of Old Melburnians since they were kicked out of the Junction (boo!), I'd like to see them use the school ground at Port Melbourne for their training but my words don't carry a lot of weight anywhere other than BigFooty.
Old Melburnians should use their school ground not just for their training but also match-day as well. As I said before in my earlier post, Elsternwick Park/Sportscover Arena has outlived its uselfulness as a matchday venue, but it should still be the administrative HQ of the VAFA.

There'd be more staff and officials on the junket than there'd be players.
Save the money and use it for better purposes.
Hearing that serious rumblings at VAFA umpire dept. OTP it's with the field umps!
As I heard the week before that Pete Marshall (SFL) stepped away.
So who's in the move down at VAFA?

My lips are sealed.

Actually, they're not, I just have no idea whats going on, and no real inclination to find out. Preseason beckons in five weeks, I'm not getting involved before then :)

How right you are , it's the VAFA's ground not them
