VAFA - Never been better placed.
Has it become too big with the inclusion of girls teams and that's not a knock , surely it's harder to manage with more grounds , umpires and volunteers needed.
I believe all local clubs should probably think of leaving in the future ., let's see how the Roys go .

Expansion can be your best friend and your worst enemy.

There are so many things to be proud of when it comes to talking about the VAFA, we have often looked down on other competitions as being poorly run or troubled by booze filled violence. Unfortunately the fingers are pointed in our direction for the first time in what seems forever and we must take our medicine.

Grounds are becoming an issue as is the ever increasing overlap of summer and winter sports at an amateur level.

A disconnect has clearly emerged between the haves and the have nots and teams seem happy now to be successful within their grade as opposed to one day achieving the pinnacle of the competition (Prem A/A Grade flag).

I wish all clubs a fantastic 2024 season and look forward to watching those that have been promoted/relegated in their new grades. On a personal level it will be nice to head out to Pine Lodge (Round 6) for the first time in a number of years, De La and Old Ivanhoe have had a great rivalry over the years and long may it continue.

Who is the authority? From what I heard AE is very well respected at COMO. Who is saying all this to you, assume it would be breach of confidentially. I know Ewart has brought in numerous organisations which has benefited the VAFA and clubs substantially. He is having a real go on getting the VAFA as successful as other sporting competitions. Why were certain board members accessing legal fees without permission and setting up dirt files to align with their agendas.

Well you would have to say the president has the most would you?

Alistair Ewart so well respected at Como Park he’s not welcome at Lunches? Told in no uncertain terms was the word, deceptively similar to those used by Eddie McGuire when AE tried to join the Collingwood FC Board. Fact is, trouble seems to follow AE…

Refer to Racing club's election tussle

MRC member Alistair Ewart has asked the Victorian Supreme Court to force the club to hold fresh elections for the committee after he was disqualified last month for the dastardly crime of electioneering. This is Ewart's third stab at a spot in the committee rooms. He fell short in 2011 and was disqualified last year, also for electioneering. There is also a history of conflict between Ewart and the club with Ewart's trophy business winning what he told the court were ''substantial damages'' in a 2009 breach of contract case.

Is history repeating? One must ask the question, what are this man’s actual intention on serving on these Board’s considering he brings nothing but turmoil to said organisations? For the love of God, and I’m sure I speak on behalf of all us clubs, I implore Alistair to disappear so the VAFA can rid itself of this toxic behaviour. And I reprise my earlier question, did anything eventuate from potential new President Tim Habel illegally recording the administration team during a meeting without consent?

I find it interesting that you have posted 3 times - all disparaging AE.

Thou doth protest too much....

Why don't you ask him tonight? If you read the articles that A E has dropped on clubs you will realise that there are multiple people involved. The whole board needs to be shown the door and bring in Gilllllllllllllllllllllllllllly.

The support of Serial Pest Ewart on this thread by relatively new posters is remarkable, some might say an amazing coincidence

Ewart, Habel & Ahmed got on last time by pushing life members for their proxies. MRC experience suggests a trend here.

Ewart has since taken legal action (another trend) and Habel's new affiliation fees roll out was a bloody mess (a new trend, but one likely to continue). Ahmed was on their ticket and assisted with the life members.

These 3 should go. They aren't real club people, despite all their window dressing.

Keano,
Just to be clear, I'm not a supporter of AE. To be honest, I don't know anything of the situation apart what a few people at club level has told me.
There seems to be alot of support for him from the people I speak to.
We can all agree the board is in shambles. A clean out might go a long way to begin restoring confidence from clubs one would think.

Affiliation fees are a user pays so clubs that played in lots of finals would have paid more. Higher grade clubs that always have 2/3 fields, goalies and boundaries have had to cough up. For eternity the lower grades paid part of the upper grade fees so now it is stiff crap. Clubs voted it in so it ain't what it ain't.

Get your hands on the A E missiles and read. Who was aiming to get on the VAFA Board to get control? Damming that one. Smoking back seat gun. On a side issue Ewart has only gone to the Equal Opp Board which costs stuff all. The legal fee costs have been ordered by the top guns only. Great reading the invoices. $900 smackas for a legal meeting at the Middle Park Hotel. Bet your knackers that the general members of the board did not get a seat.

Clubs should be reading all the things he has released - great reading

I have no issue with Premier clubs paying more. For the record most A Grade clubs (who didn't play finals) were forking out an extra $15k this year. Did D4 clubs get to pay $15k less?

The principle was sound but the roll out was pathetic in detail and a nightmare to work out. Thanks Tim!

Just might be thanks Jason and staff in charge of roll out

Pardon my ignorance but are there any long term Board members still on the Board?

If so, they should be thanked for their service & then make a dignified exit - need to give the new President and other relatively newly appointed Board members clear air - that’s the only way to get unity, make change & move forward constructively

Longest serving would be Mr Amad who will be auto removed at the end of 2024 due to the new constitution which says you can only serve 3 terms in a row or 9 years in a row something like that. If you are correct and Dunell gone will the new board offer him an appointment as second prize? This IMO would be a massive backward step in light of the released emails. Who got the 2 year board position?
