Hello all,
So, I've seen many messages these past few weeks asking where Horry is and while it's fine to keep brushing it off, I thought I best give you an update whilst also maintaining some level of privacy I know he wants to keep.
While many of you know, Grand Uncle Horace has been unwell these past few years. He's been open about this and in 2020, he first made contact with a few trusted companions that his time on BigFooty was winding down due to forces beyond his control. He expected "it" to happen in late 2020 but, as time went on he received news he would have a little bit more time with us than previously thought.
Horrie and I had been in semi-regular contact since then, checking in with each other and just seeing how things are. Many months ago when he was expecting "it" again, he trusted me with his name and date of birth so that when the day comes, I could acknowledge the news per the newspaper's death notices to you all. Then, things seemed fine again. It was now 2022 and here we are alive and well, posting away and you'd think nothing of what he had been going through in the few years prior.
Now as most are aware, Grand Uncle Horace hasn't been seen online for 6 or so weeks now, the longest absence we've seen during this time.
And I'm really concerned as I'm sure most of you are too.
For now, all I can tell you is that I have been checking the two major newspapers' tributes every day and yet, I have nothing to tell you other than that I haven't found anything.
No death notice, no funeral notice - nothing.
This both fills me with hope and yet also concern. And while it's taking a toll on my own sanity by checking it daily, I know paradoxically for my own sanity that I have to. Even though he did rip at me and told me "ignore the fekkin paper".
Chief has also attempted to make contact but to no avail.
So firstly, I'm sorry if this thread gives you a little heart drop as you see the title and I'm sorry I have no more to tell you for now. But I felt an update needed to be given.
Secondly, it would be nice if we could ease off the questions every week about Horrie, especially in each Wonders match thread but can understand with a new opponent every week, people are curious and concerned.
Thirdly, in true Horrie fashion, he'll want you all to continue having fun about the place. One of his last comments to me was that he regrets not finding the Sweet FA earlier. This sums up just how much joy this place has given him these past few years.
Let's hope he logs back in soon
