It is just a plaque! Seriously. It is purely for the players, it doesn't matter what it looks like that much.

I don't know why you keep saying this. If something is designed as a tribute to be made in the image of someone, it is generally useful for it to look like that someone.

If the players are fine with it and I am yet to hear ONE player that isn't, then just leave it. It is fine, it is just a tribute that is all it is. If you want a full statue or something perhaps that can be done in his home town.

Um lol. See just because they played cricket together doesn't mean the were just cricket mates only. You think players don't have genuine friendships? Heck, I play cricket with my best mate since we were little, but we became mates off the field long before cricket. There was really no one closer to Hughes than Warner.
Um lol, yes there was people much closer to him then Warner, not that it really matters.

Most the ayers aren't quite as silly as you and won't come out in the media and say "yeah the plaque is pretty bad and looks nothing like him"
That just isn't going to happen;)

i dont believe players will denounce it in any way. similarly, they always go into bat for players who are in the XI, just as they did when hughes was in the team, except of course when they're dropped. then it's the replacement who is talked up.

Sounds like Daniel Hughes [no relation] was a very lucky boy yesterday

creepy!

did some reading today about hughes and his relationship to adelaide/SA. seemed he really embraced the state.

The Strikers have also announced the shirt No. 64 that belong to Hughes has been retired, as it has by Australia’s ODI team.

At Hughes’ funeral, it was explained that Hughes had worn 64 because it was one of the first scores he made as a promising junior cricketer.

“I remember being 14 or 15 watching his first one day game for NSW against Victoria and he got 64 in that game,” Zampa said.

eerie that he made 64 in his first game, and then 63 in his final game. it's almost like the score was meant to be

How crazily coincidental being the other Hughes going around in domestic cricket at the moment.

Angers me further now that everyone else always seems to get lucky but Phillip didn't.:cry:

disgusting comment. you should be ashamed of yourself. besmirching others who have undergone the same event without the same outcome. everyone gets that you are phils biggest fan on bigfooty, but this is TOO FAR.

waiting for you to post about the 6ers batsman who was perilously close last night.

Pull your head in, it is embarrassing the way you are carrying on.

The poor bloke is dead, time to move on and show some respect to his family and friends who actually knew him.

That's not what I'm saying. I'm glad they all pull through, very happy. I was just saying in saddens me he didn't get the same luck as the others did, even though I'm glad they did. Ideally they all would have survived. I'm not at all wishing any of them died.

C'mon mate, that's a pathetic thing for anyone to wish. Of course I didn't mean that. I'm a better person than that!

Over time (30 years) for a period at relatively high levels, I've seen numerous batsman felled by short pitched bowling. On one occasion - i seriously thought one lad was in a lot of trouble as he collapsed in a similar manner to that of Phillip Hughes, but probably more like Daniel Hughes. Couple of times I've said to other players - "he's dead" in a serious tone when someone has been hit, but never expecting it would happen.

As it turned out yesterday we were back on an adjacent ground to where my closest run in with on field tragedy occurred. It was eerie that I was playing with two teammates who were there on that day and we all recalled the incident.

The Phil Hughes incident was a one in a million, a freak and tragic accident. When your number's up - its up.

luck? think about what you're saying. you are upset and sad tonight before others were "lucky". really?
were you upset and sad when the umpire in israel died due to a head injury in a cricket match?

you're starting to sound like the poster who wished his own life was taken instead of phil.

Uh lol. I think I'll unsubscribe from this thread, seems like it's now the "jump all over the posters that still wish he was here with us" thread.

Hang in there Ashton. Take all the time you need to mourn the loss of those you don't know.
Ease up, I've long accepted it and moved on with my life, I still watch the sport nearly everyday. Doesn't mean I'll forget him though. He's still my favorite cricketer. It's like everyone wants to forget about him!
