Got you beat, I checked out Round 1. I watched that abomination live with a Saints friend and I didn't want to hear a bar of St Kilda's 'good form' in the weeks afterwards as reason for that turgid game. You wait a whole preseason after a semi-final year, with a fully fit team vs 15 injured Saints players, and there wasn't a single moment of inspiring play from us in 2.5 hours. We didn't even turn up looking to play a game of footy vs an opposition. Watching our guys kick it around side to side to each other for an entire game, setting record marks in the backline by playing kick to kick, and after a while it was like St Kilda shrugged their shoulders and were like "well, if you don't want to win I guess we'll give it a try" and broke through pretty easily. People laughed it off when I said we'd lose to North the next week but I'd never seen a team so scared to even try to win a game of footy. Our season was over in the first 2 weeks, really.

Me too. Had a good melt then because it was clear we’d gone backwards

Yeah I was absolutely ropable after that game. Not because we lost but because the style was just awful.

We really should have seen the writing on the wall after the St Kilda game, a lot of us just brushing it off as "needing the team to gel together' but no, outside of that 4 game stretch that was our par for the course for most of this season.

That 4 game stretch were solid wins. Wonder why it dropped off so badly after the bye.

We're 15th.
Behind GC who have been absolutely crap all year. In front of WC who for most of the year didn't have a full team, Hawks who have one good player and North who have one good player and no coach.
One of our worst seasons ever.
An absolute waste. 7 years into our rebuild.

Alex Pearce needs to be stripped of captains armband or at least have the cuts to say he is not up to it

Haven't watched the game yet, but no venting from me. Pleased with the obvious competitiveness against a quality side, as well as some of the structural changes (Young into the middle). Christ, Jackson's game looks good on paper! Result doesn't really matter.

Put it this way if alex pearce was a good player and captain we would have won this game

It was a solid effort , could have been anybody’s game .
Lions were a bit cleaner with the ball and found space on the wings .

If anyone needs a Rev up it was the crowd
Pretty flat , but understandable given the average season Freo put out

Serious question - is Zac Dawson a better kick of the football than Alex Pearce?

Yes. Contrary to popular belief, Dawson was a good kick. He just chose not to.

Same as losing this week then. Just on opposite sides
This season has been so bad that a month out from the last game we're no chance of finals and results don't matter. We've no kids to play and no 1st round pick to look forwards to. Jackson will go down as one of the most expensive picks ever and the club has managed to reassert itself, along with GC, as the most irrelevant club in the AFL. Throw in a captain that has played one good game in a season and the one young player that has come good this season is probably leaving.
Absolute train wreck of a season.

What are you talking about?

The supporters in my block were so revved up, they knitted 4 scarves during the game.

One of them even got through their book.

Well vented!

🤣
The guy next to me literally did bring a book !
Luckily the game was fairly entertaining and he didn’t really read it but who the hell takes a boom to the footy ?
