Last week Collingwood's 3 emergencies didn't play and only two of them came in, so I'm hoping only one of Davis / Swan is out (Davis please).

What difference would it have made anyway? You wouldn't have traded either of them out (unless you are stupid) and it is your own fault if you don't have emergencies for them.
Would have made no difference if they weren't named Thursday.
Davis has always been a chance to come up, so of course you are going to name him.
And in conclusion, I hardly think coaches are going to start putting the concerns of people who play DT over that of the actual team.

It's an old school thing for coaches to do. Sheedy used to do it regularly. None of the newer breed of coaches (e.g. Knights) seem to worry about these ****ing stupid 'mind games'. In the end, it achieves nothing as the opposition coach will prepare their team to take on their opponents with and without said doubtful players.
I don't have a problem with coaches giving their players until the last minute to prove their fitness, but it's the teams that name players they KNOW are no chance (i.e. Collingwood) that piss me off.
