I'd imagine part of the selection process for captain would be working out which of the players can do a televised after match interview using words of more than one syllable, not dropping the F-bomb, and without triggering an avalanche of calls to crime-stoppers.

He’s been captain for awhile. Won their last best and fairest before they took a year out. Has played for Williamstown, Dandenong stingrays, attended a private school and is now a teacher.
