PS. Why is Hawkins playing for metro, I though he would go into the country team.
He's from Finley in NSW and imo should be playing for them, but chose not to and will play for Vic Metro as he boards at Melbourne Grammar he's able to play with Vic Metro.

For Vic Metro toss a coin, Kreuzer has the most talent but is bottom age and so is Currie. Crozier is more physical and has the bigger body but isn't as good as the other two around the ground.
Ben McEvoy and Matt Tyler and probably the one and two ruckmen for Country. McEvoy is very mobile and Tyler easily handled the bigger older Preston ruckman on the weekend but isn't as good around the ground.

Ive played Cricket with Batsansis(12 for metro) and footy agaisnt him.
lot better footy player then cricketer.
and ive played Footy agaist Robert Gray, and my mate plays cricket with him.
he is a gun at both.

I really, really, really shouldn't do this.......... BUT.......if a bloke is going to lead with his chin over and over again..........I think it is only fair to ask the question of the esteemed members of BF who went to the game...............

Did anyone else...........aside from pieman............see Tyler ruck and easily handle the bigger older Preston ruckman ?????

Common......ANYONE.......ANYWHERE.

Looks like it's back to the DVD's for you old pieboy. By the time you get to your 10th viewing you should just about have it nailed a comprehensive review of the game.

Let me know when you work out who that actually was in the ruck. I could refer to my notes and give you the answer but what are my scrappy notes compared to the vast array of resources you have at your fingers tips.

Happy re-viewing.

PS. don't tell me.....typo wasn't it.....it happens :thumbsu:

Who's the number 1 ruckman for Vic Metro (and Vic Country) since most people know of the names Sellar, Leuenberger, Renouf, Bellchambers, etc.?

Country should be McEvoy and Hansen. Country have a lot of flexability in their squad with plenty of guys who can rotate through the KP. At North Ballarat the ruck pecking order tends to be Hardy - M. Brown - Tyler - N.Brown. All 4 have had a go at some stage.

Country will be able to put Hansen wherever they feel he can be most damaging. Could well play forward, back and ruck over the 3 games.

Temptation will be to keep Tyler at CHB because he is a very damaging player when he counter-attacks. Very modern backman in that sense. He might be able to hurt his opponents that way. Kicking just needs a little work.

For Metro. I think they need Kreuzer and Hawkins in the forward line. Don't think they can afford to ruck them. In the trial they paired Currie and Crozier together, but I think Crozier is an emergency. Basically leaves Currie a lone ruckman.

Wouldn't be suprised if Metro conceed the ruck for long periods and use a guy like Jarryd Allan or Luke Clark as a Jason Blake style small ruckman who can get touches, and just give an honest contest at the bounces.

I would of guessed that the lack of run and class in the Metro squad would have meant they went for a plan which involved forcing a lot of stoppages and making for a physical, slow game. In that context I was thinking that Crozier would make the team to give them a physical ruckman. If Metro do go for a game plan of stoppages they probably won't have the ruck strength they need to pull it off.

Must have handled him in the rooms after the game? Tyler was out with a sore shoulder he picked up in the trial game against Metro. McEvoy was rested given the big job he faces against WA this Sunday.

Hardy was the main ruckman with support from one of the Brown twins. Hansen took a few contests in the backline.

And for what it is worth so do I. His job description might play CHF but at 194cm and 78kg he is a very outside player at the moment suited far more to the HFF which is where he played in the trials.

 Ouch a short left jab to the chin of the Pieman from one of BF's Heavy Weight title holders.

  Another vicious uppercut. Can the lad take any more punishment

Should he simply take his weary body back to his 8 x 10 room of wall to wall TV screens and rest awhile to gain his composure

Pieman I'm not one to kick a guy when he is down........unless he won't take no for an answer.............so give it a rest. I've had my fun and it's time for me to move on.

I can't be bothered sparring with you any more. You have your opinions and I have mine. We will beg to differ I suspect.

See you round BF.

PS. Just to save any cred I may have on BF......if there is (one) 1 U18 Team list that hasn't been posted here.........then I am happy to post it. That should put an end to the fun and games. :thumbsu:

I"m not so sure about that Sez, the lists I saw on the AFL site still have squads of 30, weren't they supposed to be whittled down to 25?

no the squads are correct.

They list the 30 players, because there are 5 emergencies contained within the squads. In the event of injury, illness etc, one of the 5 is called up immediately, hence his name, weight, dob, height etc are listed in the record.

Metro's, Country's, W.A's and S.A's Emergencies are aready known, but they are still contained within the record/ lists

Do you know who the 5 emergencies are for Metro?

Also, can anyone shed some light on how No. 7 (Dave Mackay) plays?
