‘Knuckles’ Kurley used to go over to the oppo huddle and report back to the crows coach after he finished his live cross.Pav is a struggle to listen to, I'll agree with that.
Papalia just calls it as it is and Schofield goes out of his way to pot WCE and praise the oppo as not to appear biased.
Ok so BT is biased and shit.
You'll get no argument from me there.
Ground advantage is much more important than any travel burden. And that is why the Vafl keep on with the travelling bias for interstaters.
Otherwise it would even up the comp and most GF,s would be won by interstaters.
It is in place to keep vic teams relevant.
You can keep repeating your position, doesn’t make it true.Ground advantage is much more important than any travel burden.
In the 21st century it is non-Melbourne teams who have more games where they enjoy a ground advantage over their opponent, but then travel outside their city the most who have won the most flags.
When COVID hit and ground advantage was removed, no surprises the flags were won by Melbourne teams.
But keep sooking about how easy - WB, Melb, StK, Carl, Ess and NM - have it.
Well, Craig McRae, Damien Hardwick, Mick Malthouse, Leigh Matthews, John Longmire and many others have all had their say, but what would they know compared to the intellects of LoungeLizard and doppleganger ?Is there a supporter of a club arguing at all for the opposite point of view or are we all just in our own corners on the topic?
Do you have a spreadsheet of reply data.same thing again and again.Ground advantage is much more important than any travel burden.

You dont think home ground advantage is real? You can keep repeating your position, doesn’t make it true.
You need to consider when they made their position clear. Hardwick had issue playing at Marvel when at Richmond with no concern over clubs flying every second week. Now he’s much more vocal.Well, Craig McRae, Damien Hardwick, Mick Malthouse, Leigh Matthews, John Longmire and many others have all had their say, but what would they know compared to the intellects of LoungeLizard and doppleganger ?
Mick Malthouse was big about blockbuster fatigue. You need to consider when they made their position clear. Hardwick had issue playing at Marvel when at Richmond with no concern over clubs flying every second week. Now he’s much more vocal.
Just because those you mentioned are public figures doesn’t mean you should excuse their obvious bias.
Yep.Mick Malthouse was big about blockbuster fatigue.
WC also know the perils of blockbuster fatigue, preferring an away game to a game against a local rival.
Eagles reveal derby blues
www.theage.com.au
The Eagles are concerned the match may have left the players of both clubs mentally, physically and emotionally drained leading into the finals.
"We certainly don't want the derby in the last round and that was in our submission," Nisbett said.
Eagles are that soft they think a local derby is too taxing - imagine playing a dozen of them.
Funnily enough, Hardwick found it difficult to travel to Marvel, so not sure he adds to your argumentYou can keep repeating your position, doesn’t make it true.

Not sure if you know or not, but I'm pretty sure no one on this thread works for the afl media.
Never let facts get in the way of a good SA sook. Some quotes from that article someone linked earlier.
"The following instances might seem petty, but they are also symbolic. In 2015 West Coast entered the finals as ladder leaders but were placed below Hawthorn on the MCG scoreboard on grand final day with the Hawks also handed first choice of venue for their post-match function."
Wrong! Freo were ladder leaders.
" In 2016 at the grand final parade both handles of the premiership cup were tied with the Bulldogs’ coloured ribbons of red, white and blue. Cup ambassador Michael O’Loughlin asked for one handle to be changed to adorn Sydney’s red and white but was refused."
Yet here is a photo of the cup at the parade with both teams' colours.

Being their choice doesn't magically make the travel and staying in hotels disappear.Their choice. They are still an MCG tenant and get to play any Vic finals at their home ground, regardless of opponent.
By not equal do you mean Brisbane trained at the G and Collingwood didn't?Caro Wilson was saying on the radio that Collingwood coaching staff's families got to come to the GF last year free while Brisbane had to pay (out of their soft cap), and there wasn't an equal number of training sessions on the MCG in the week leading up to it.
Apparently interstate clubs have to book their own hotels for GF week and it's a logistical nightmare on short notice? Help with little stuff like that would go a long way.
Not exactly asking for the game to be moved.
Sounds trite, but knowing where you are, your route in, time allowance etc will make difference. It's minute, admittedly, but everyone is always seeking the thinnest of edges or margins to improve. Was it worth 4 points? Maybe. Could the AFL just book a hotel and have it ready so all teams know in advance when and where they'll be (here's a novel idea, book it all season for travelling teams so they're at least used to it).The Lions lost by 4 points in the 2023 Grand Final, surely you're not going to blame the loss on what you just said???? "Logistical nightnare"..

Drawing a long bow there, I didn't even mention the loss last year. Not blaming it on that at all.The Lions lost by 4 points in the 2023 Grand Final, surely you're not going to blame the loss on what you just said???? "Logistical nightnare"..
Yeah note I said in the post I was referring to what I heard on the radio, I don't actually know how many times each team trained on the MCG last year in the lead up.By not equal do you mean Brisbane trained at the G and Collingwood didn't?
The "travel burden" doesnt count for Hawthorn because they choose to travel is hilarious.Being their choice doesn't magically make the travel and staying in hotels disappear.
We've had to play several 'home' finals at Marvel. But we accept that because there is no such thing as home finals and never has been. The AFL selects the most suitable ground, for WA/SA that happens to be their home ground and their supporters have mistakenly interpreted this as earning a home final.
Nah. Most teams have some comparative advantages and disadvantages and the size of all of them are unmeasurable. So bias makes us look at other clubs advantages and say they're huge and our advantages are small - or even refuse to see our own advantages. Is there a supporter of a club arguing at all for the opposite point of view or are we all just in our own corners on the topic?
For the Granny, I'm not so sure. It's a certainty for the AFL, interstate clubs don't know til after the PF. Sure, they can book now and cancel (tough shit on the hotel I guess), but it seems weird the AFL doesn't have something set up.It's not the AFL's job to book accomodation etc for teams who need to travel. Why don't the clubs book their hotel stays in advance? Once the fixtures are known (Home & Away), the clubs should immediately be onto it. Same applies for finals participants - once fixtures for finals are known, those participating clubs should be onto it and booking hotels etc if travel is required.
