And all played for Port Adelaide. Not one came from the other ******* SANFL clubs. The difference was there was an unfair 200 game impost on them for a time.
Of course it's unfair, everything is unfair when Port are involved, the SANFL hate you, the AFL hates you, 7 hates you, even ex-players are #vicbais against you, Port should change codes maybe the NRL might take you in.

So Port got 5 F/S...pretty strong return.

But are upset that the AFL also granted them access to sons of players from other SANFL clubs, but you couldnt take advantage of this...so it is VICBias.

At no stage did the VFL have control of football outside of that league itself.

They do now and have done since 1995 at the very least. Your ignorance of the brand change notwithstanding.

The rules of the game were administered by the NFL/ANFC. So the AFL Commission superseded this authority.

Not until the NFL disbanded in 1995, at which point the AFL Commission was 5 years old (and technically only 2 years old).

So they became the custodian of the game at a national level whether you are Collingwood FC or Weipa under 8's. So the AFL administered by the AFL Commission is therefore the national competition just by virtue of the name.

This doesnt change the fact that the AFL is a rebranded AFL. The NFL did not exist when the AFL became custodian having disbanded prior to the AFL declaring itself into the role.

There was no VFL rebrand of the NFL that is nonsense

I never claimed there was.

and the NFL decided the rules of football so its also nonsense that they had no control over the VFL.

The NFL provided guidelines for football - as the AFL does - no affiliated body was ever required to absolutely follow them.
  • The VFL ran a competing night series completely outside NFL control from 1977, and eventuallly forced the NFL to shutter their version.
  • THe VFL deliberately ignored clearance rules from the NFL
  • The VFL unilaterally decided to stop paying transfer fees without consulting anyone despite NFL protests.
  • The VFL chose to go national despite the NFL having their own plan supported by the WAFC and SANFL.

At no stage did the NFL control the VFL, or any other body for that matter - just like the AFL doesnt control the SANFL and WAFC now.

So you agree, the desire to maximize $$$ means that the AFL make decisions which skew the competition, and as Victoria are the largest financial state, they stand to gain the greatest benefit.

And as the Vic clubs “own” the national competition
(which they shouldn’t, it’s not their competition, they signed up to a national competition, but refuse to let go), then no one is going to upset the status quo.

Good to see we agree.
Lol this thread still goin.

Yes and yes, probably because of ...............
  • vic has more than half of the participants, and more than half the $$ paying market. < That is the why.
It's not coz Gil (SA), Dil and Goyder (WA) hate non vics and the whole thing is set up as a conspiracy, it is skewed toward the vic market coz of the $
  • It is not a national competition, it is the vfl expanded and rebranded as a national competition.
Not sure your post is the 'gotcha' you think it is.

Would it matter if the GF was not locked into the MCG for the next 50 years.

Of course that is Vic bias

You non Vic clubs already knew that when you signed on and joined our league.

I happen to agree that the highest ranked team playing in the Grand Final should host it in their city (except for Geelong obviously) but we have seen in recent times that the likes of Port Adelaide and Brisbane bottle it in home finals.

That's not a case of Vic Bias (for example why Port so far still haven't made a Granny under Ken)

We did not the agreement would be extended for 50 years.

Agree

The Melbourne club playing a home game in another state and giving up home advantage to a non-Melbourne club strikes again today.

H&A season favours the teams who retain a home ground advantage.
