"12 months. No parole!!"

Cox started vickery finished it it's only fair cox the flog fell down faster than a fly

Annoys me that the 4 weeks benefits all other AFL teams, he should miss next 4 games Vs West Coast. Our player is taken off ground with concussion and we have to use sub early.

Yep he should of six weeks no difference between him and Barry Hall

This incident is equal if not in my opinion worse than Hall Vs Staker he deserves to be suspended for a minimum of 10 to 12 weeks. It was a low act

It's amazing how many Richmond flogs are on the wce page I've been to a few games to watch wce v Richmond I have to say the flogs are worse supporters than collingwood supporters get a life and get off our fan page ya w***ers

Although I find Vickery very frustrating as a player and the incident a very ordinary act...

I have to compliment Ty on the way he has handled himself since then.

To those that want to throw stones can go get F###ed. People make mistakes.
Plenty of players have done pretty ordinary things on the field.

Although it wasn't deserved, Cox has dished plenty of cheap shot elbows to the ribs over the years that everyone says is fair game, maybe it's just karma finally catching up to him.

And when over the years players like Judd can eye gouge, Ablett can elbow and get away with it, I think 4 weeks fits the crime for an act of stupidity.

Not happy with Ty's act, but far more impressed with his response afterwards than the snipers that are loitering to take a crack at him.
Really good assessment , the guy previous and including the time of the incident has shit me to tears and exhibited the traits of a spoilt little prick.
His actions since have been that of a very intelligent and thoughtful person.
Perhaps he got kicked off the tit ??

Surely you could have come up with a better retort than that
Being an Eagles supporter i thought disgraceful on-field behavior was the norm, i mean Chris Lewis was the worst in VFL/AFL history. Biting, eye gouging, kicking, spitting, pushing heads into fences, makes Vikery look like a virgin alter boy.

i still think 3 brownlow points are in order here.
best punch ive seen in a while and it fair and square knocked him out.
to me thats the best and fairest player on the ground.

Given it is now widely acknowledged that Lewis was subjected to a level of racial abuse that would have seen substantial suspensions now this comment is pretty poor

It's sad that you have to play the racial abuse card to justify his thuggery too

Yep... that's fair enough. Funnily enough Vickery was subject to an elbow in the guts by cheap-shot, glass chin little Cox..... so I guess it's fair enough for him to cop one....

Vickery messed up no doubt, but perhaps Cox will think twice before trying his dirty little cheap shots again.... if he ever gets out of his coma.

Now piss off. We are sick of hearing about your weak spineless players. The fact they couldn't lift for Cox is testament to their pea hearts...

Poor? So why didnt other indigenous players resort to spitting, kicking, eye gouging etc. I used a dirty Eagles player as an example, you turned it into a race issue, its your comment that is poor.

Both Tony Shaw and Brereton have admitted to vilifying an Eagles player(s), both have been dubiously repentant about it. There used to be a lot more.

The amount of racial vilification and rather disturbing abuse directed at Lewis by both players and fans on more than one occasion at Waverly, not to mention the niggling, provocation and downright thuggery he was subjected to behind play should turn most peoples stomachs. It's not an excuse for violence though, I agree.

What has this got to do with this thread on Vickery?

Dean Cox is one of the great behind the scene thugs who has made a career out of behind the play/ruck sly whacks, he got what he deserved it was just Vickery was to stupid in not being subtle about it.

All bullshit aside when it comes to Brereton I'll pay him his dues.Forget the comment about the dill on the fence, on field
When it comes to this he's no hypocrite.
Unlike others he understands exactly what he did when he played.

Cool, so you just made that up.

It has never been mentioned on this site, nor in the media before now. I have never seen it live, nor has anyone I know mentioned such a thing. I dare you to find a single piece of vision or opinion to support this, nor of a person claiming as much pre Breretons bullshit, the same guy who said Hams was on our list to save our midfield and claimed JK was in AA form the season he was injured.

It is beyond the pale, that a few Richmond supporters believe it is fine to smear a champion player, all to justify the dirty act of a hothead.

Lol just another flog from the West coast coming to troll the board..
Nope, no trolling, no aggression, no asinine insults. In fact, I have said nothing even remotely controversial.

I have taken exception to Cox being called a career thug and that being the cornerstone of his success, because it is nothing more than a blatant fabrication.

Do you actually think that's factually correct, or does it suit your argument this week?

I mean, yeah, Cox engages in the ruck niggle that every one of them does to be successful, and he's probably become one of the best at it, but to make him out as an off the ball sniper is, frankly, a bridge too far.

But it's your board and I'll leave you there.

A sequence of events which began at a boundary throw-in last Friday night has culminated in Tyrone Vickery’s suspension.

A breach of the rules as execrable and blatant as his knock-out blow to Dean Cox could not but be severely punished.

So Cox has been injured and Vickery suspended. The tragedy, though, is that this should never have happened.

In lashing out angrily as he did, Vickery was responding to an obvious breach of the rules by Cox.

In the manner that makes old ruckmen misty-eyed, the Eagles veteran had belted Vickery in the guts with his elbow before the ball was thrown in.

Let’s consider that action. The ball is not in play, which is significant; one player deliberately swings his arm back and strikes his opponent; that opponent – 98 kilograms of him – is put on the deck grimacing in pain. And no free kick is awarded.

How different it would have been had umpire Jeff Dalgleish blown his whistle, awarded Vickery the free to which he was entitled, and told Cox he would report him if the action was repeated. Cox would not have suffered concussion and Vickery would be playing this week.

The fact is there were three culprits in this sorry scenario. The one who had the power to nip the chain reaction in the bud failed in his job and, indeed, in his duty of care.
