why exactly? on what grounds would andrews be removed from power? im not even sure why ibac is investigating internal party politics. its like the police investigating when a family decides to break their own rules and have fish and chips on thursday instead of friday.
Maybe because the Labor party is inherently corrupt

Paying peoples membership with tax payers money is a criminal offence. Heads will roll.

except theres nothing so far to suggest thats the case, thats just part of the investigation because of course they'd check that. but given that hasnt caused heads in the federal libs to roll, i'm not sure why a state government should be any different.

at least theyre fronting up to an enquiry unlike the feds. theyd be gone 10 times over if they were held to the account that both the nsw liberal and vic labor goverments are.

They won't get away with it like the Red Shirts corruption this time. It truly is amazing that Il Duce is still around.

you mean that corruption that was investigated separately by the ombudsman, police and fraud squad and found nothing illegal had been done, and they were just instructed to repay some money because they did too much work compared to the way their pay was split.

the libs have been found guilty of countless misuse of taxpayer funds for political and private gain yet escaped any sanction. gladys only fell on her sword because not only was she being investigated for a second (or third) time, but it was also shown that she'd lied to the initial investigation. michaela cash leaked confidential police investigation details into a political opponent to the media, and then lied to a senate inquiry about it. but go on and pretend like labor is some corrupt enemy of everyone. id rather andrews than a guy who would be seen publicly dining with known crime figures.

Well we won't talk about the Hotel quarantine debacle caused by ..."I don't recall" which caused the deaths of nearly 800 people because "someone" contracted out to private security to help out their mate with a few million dollars and there was army resources available which Andrews knocked back.

8oo lives.

Silly comment.

Where has it ever been suggested she is corrupt? She was being investigated for being associated with someone who is corrupt.

But conservative haters are just going to keep on hating no matter what.
because she left parliament at the drop of a hat!

she did not have to

looks very much like running away, doesn't pass the sniff test that she is clean

The Ruby Princess says hi from Sydney.

Thank you NSW Lib Government, ably supported by the LNP federal Government.

The start of it all.

Incorrect. The first case was a Chinese national who flew into Melbourne. Ruby happened a couple of months later and it was seen as a poor decision by the Health Dept. and not a Ministers decision.

So one Chinese into Melbourne versus a cruise liner full of Covid. Hmmmm, I wonder which one was the bigger risk?

And Yes, the bureaucrats fault, of course.

Ministerial responsibility is such an old fashioned concept.

In your opinion
no, in any logic-driven frame of reference!!

She did not need to leave parliament. So why was she rushing out the door?

as I said, sniff test-wise it is fairly obvious and doesn't even need saying.

And that's fine. She walks, she stays and fights and might be force to walk, who knows, and who cares really, Gladys is a footnote in our political history now and NSW moves on.

What's worse?

A premier who walks away while under IBAC investigation to avoid the Office of Premier being undermined. Or a premier who goes from one controversy to another managing to avoid blame, and in the process, denies all responsibility for what is arguably the greatest political disaster in Australian history in terms of economic cost and deaths, when Blind Freddy and the Drover's Dog can see the said Premier was in it up to his eye balls?

Gladys may fail your sniff test, but the stench in Victoria is becoming overpowering

efa

it's shocking your love for a premier who used the premiers office to arrange meetings with private businesses that she had a personal financial connection to, who then sold land/made government policy to benefit that business, and who is now again being investigated after being found to have lied to the first anti corruption investigation.

your 'concern' is clearly politically based.

(also, im not a labor voter. there is much labor does i fundamentally oppose)

You mean the 'not-a-race' vaccine rollout that was entirely controllable by the Federal Government?

Malcolm Turnbull criticises Australian COVID-19 vaccine rollout, particularly mixed messaging on AstraZeneca - ABC News
Malcolm Turnbull is a miserable failed politician whose popularity sank below that of Tony Abbott. I thought his business acumen would make him a good PM, but it didn't. The fact that he criticises Morrison is more a reflection of his inability to accept he was a failure.

As for the slow roll out, Yes, The PM accepted responsibility for the INITIAL slow roll out. And the comment of it not being a race was foolish but said in light of the fact the infection rate in Australia was miniscule (and still is) compared to Europe and other western countries.

If the roll-out had not been slow do you think Australians would have embraced vaccination take-up as is happening right now in NSW and VIC?. In those states with next to no infection, and in New Zealand, the take up is sluggish. Why? Human nature. The fact that we have now overtaken USA and many other western countries in take-up simply proves the point that once you put adversity in the path of people they will do what is needed.

Sounds to me a lot more like you cheerleading for ScoMo than any kind of sound, logical, explanation.

Would we be more vaccinated today if we'd had access to vaccines sooner? Yes.

The Federal Government completely and totally botched the rollout.

mate, it was all part of the plan. go slow so that another outbreak happens (costing lives and jobs) which will incentivise people to get the vaccine.

if thats an acceptable (and good) strategy, i fail to see why its such a big deal that labor broke their own internal rules about how candidates are selected, even if it did involve some misuse of taxpayer funds. though the feds are still streets ahead of the vics in that department too.

Would we be more vaccinated today if we'd had access to vaccines sooner? Yes.
But would Australia be ahead of where it is today in terms of double vaccinations if the roll out had been quicker? I'd say knowing what we know has happened overseas and in WA, QLD and NZ, the answer is unlikely. Fact is we have made up lost ground.
