Can you tell me more about Matera? Will he go gold coast?

And also Jack Darling?

Jack Darling is only 16 so will have to wait for him and is only 190cm need to grow taller to hold a kp spot.

Matera has told GC that he wont sign with them this year, he is hoping to stay in WA.

I think he will go from 10 to 20 in 2010 draft, is a essendon supporter but wants to stay in WA and play for Eagles, the family thing.

We may have a shot at him at that level.

He is a hog never passes of but never misses a snap, not as confident on set shot but is still good.

Just not great like snap shots are, is a genuine crumber all class though.

I thought Colyer and Morabito were far and above best on ground. Both showed explosive pace and one of Colyer's chases and tackles to get an SA player running into goals holding the ball was sublime. To watch Morabito fumble the ball while bouncing, while getting further away from his chasing opponent was unbelievable.
Very impressive game from most of the squad.
Royal Eagle you forgot to mention Darling's goal from CHF was from just about the centre square, absolutely massive kick.
Neates' role is a little underrated, Hasleby type mid who gets a lot of the nothing possessions but gets the run started without doing the run and carry and damaging the opposition like Morabito, Colyer and Swallow do.
Swallow was very good very rarely gets beaten to the ball or at contests but was still third best on for me.
I've said it before Brandon is an out and out freak, by bringing other players into the game a bit more often he would enhance his own game and I think thats what Lockyer is trying to bring out in him from what I've heard.
Good team effort from WA and should really take it up to Metro this year.

Also went to the game. Colyer was #12?

Morabito is a gun and will have an impact at AFL level from day one. Will enjoy the space provided, hard at it, loves to tackle and can win his own ball.

Lucas, god this guy can kick the ball. Of the HBF he kicked the ball across the center, wieghted to one of our small midfielders, he was out of position but Lucas gave him the ball drop. Looked dangerous playing up the ground, was not that great when playing deep.

Swallow, when in defense he reminded me of Hodge, reads the play with incredible ability, always first to the ball drop. His kick is fast flat and deadly.

Matera is a livewire, shanked a few kicks but is always up and about. Beat his opponent easy in the first half.

Hutchings, tough nut. Did allot of things right and always used it well.

Travis Colyer is number 1.

Anthony Collica is number 12 good kid with nice pace has found form at the right time. As he wasn't in very good form in colts a month before the championships.

Morabito, Collica, Colyer and Swallow were all more impressive, and worked harder

I agree. First three all got game time through the middle and the later was a rock in defense before going to through the middle. Lucas start was very good but, when playing deep he provided little use. Followed well for most of the game.

What was the deal with Nat Fyfe getting ommitted before the game?

Didnt get picked mate

he was in a 4 way battle for the last spot with Foster, Beswick and Van Gronigen. The selectors went with Foster.

the squad of 23 for NT has been picked.

matera is a seagull, but a good one, cant see him going from 10-20 in the draft , Darling will eventually play more up the ground

Foster (cut head), Neates (bad hammy), Beswick (not upto it and too slow), Hayward (unfit) are the outs and the ins are Fyfe, Elari, Kickett, Fasolo (all playing the first game of state 18's and state footy beside Fasolo). All being built up into the state thing which is a good move aginast NT which wil simply be a 100 point win to WA.

WA have said they are not looking to win the championships but they are simply looking to get more drafted from WA. Lockyer said they will play about 35 different players through championships. Just wait until he plays their very best side against VIC M and Vic C whilst resting against everyone else.

Foster has either been dropped or rested as it does not take 6 days to recover from a cut head. Rhett Mason also included into the squad but have been told he is emergencie, which i am very surprised at. Agree that beswick is abit sloow, but plays a similar role to what hutchings is playing and they obviously rate hutchings the better player.

Find it interesting that they havent reSTED morabito Duncan Sheppard and co as we are only playing NT

Does anyone know where i can get some updates from tonights game between the boys and the NT guys?

Searched everywhere but found nothing.... local radio? online stats? anyone?

Thanks guys

Well thats two really good games from Cripps seems a good small defender, and he is a really quick which helps with his rebound.

Joel Houghton 4

Any details on who this guy is, saw him in the West Australian today and it says he has alot of upside and is listed at 196cm! Is he some beanpole or does he have a bit of weight to him?

Mitch Duncan 3

Looks like a very good player this kid

Have heard and seen that Houghton is not as good as he is talked up to be. Plays from behind and was virtually kick less until the final quarter last night and kicked 4 when the game was over!

Not the most popular bloke in the group!
