That McVeigh interview is really interesting 3 years later. To be so adamant that everyone knew what they were taking...

Does it not suggest that there's more information than what CAS has been privy to?

And does it not suggest that either players have lied about their ignorance, or that Essendon have lied about the presence of records?
Or he is a blatant liar.
If you listen to all the interview, you will hear him say they were only given vitamins.

Clearly. What else could one surmise?

They all lied to ASADA about taking anything. Why not that too. Their are definitely specific records somewhere. The players will sue & demand those records.

Good points about the texts, which are condeming of themselves.

I can't believe that in the rush to defend Essendon and paint them as victims, the media at large have ignored those text messages. Bizarre.

I'm well aware of how many votes he received.

It's by default because the medal has already been awarded to someone else. It gets stripped an given to second place, then yeah, it's by default.
It's a very different scenario to winning on the night despite an ineligible player getting more votes, particularly from a players point of view, given they miss out on the presentation and plaudits traditionally given to Brownlow winners.

Sam Mitchell seems like he'd rock up to the next Essendon vs Hawthorn match wearing it

My respect will go to the first player who steps up, takes responsibility and doesn't play the victim card.

The players who have been banned, deliberately misled ASADA the whole way through the process. When will the media start asking why?

It may well be a horrible day for the AFL, and getting worse by the minute thanks to that dill Gill, but it's a great day for AFL fans who believe in the integrity of the game and the welfare of its players.

It's a bad day for footy because the AFL has been exposed as incompetent at best, corrupt at worst

The AFL administration did all it could to stage manage the outcome it felt did the least amount of damage after one of it's biggest clubs was exposed for running a systematic doping regime.

it has taken an appeal by WADA go CAS to bring the truth into the cold hard light of day and our sport comes out stinking like week old fish guts
And the AFL still tries to avoid penalties for the club.

Corrupt, self serving bullshit!

Except for the AFL's reaction that is making a mockery of the idea of integrity.

It's really not - I really feel that "AFL fans who believe in the integrity of the game" have been left feeling that the head honchos at the AFL are unable or unwilling to deliver that.

Gerard Whately put it very well earlier tonight - the WADA case was equivalent to the adults entering the room.

I think Kingy should be tested for TB4 after that call.

The best part was when he mentioned the 20% percentage boost to sides playing Essendon a second time. For that kind of boost over the course of a season how much do sides need to win by? Probably in the 300 - 400 range

So what's with Tom Petrovski?

He wears this hipster-style hair and beard... and he works for a bank and wears expensive suits.

Seems like a walking contradiction.
He went on holiday in 2013 and let his hair and beard grow out and decided to keep it.

....for which they have already been punished by the AFL with loss of draft picks (and disqualification from the finals that year).

This latest hearing was only on the individual athletes, who are responsible for whatever goes in their body.

They were punished for 'poor governance'.

The AFL made that painstakingly clear.

The club should absolutely be sanctioned for running a doping regime.

No. They were never penalised for doping. Just ask Paul Little.
