So if this thread has told me anything...

It's that Tom Petrovski is "a thing"?

I don't watch enough FTA tv to really know - is he like a cult hero/manly icon or something?

It's a bad day for footy because the AFL has been exposed as incompetent at best, corrupt at worst

The AFL administration did all it could to stage manage the outcome it felt did the least amount of damage after one of it's biggest clubs was exposed for running a systematic doping regime.

it has taken an appeal by WADA go CAS to bring the truth into the cold hard light of day and our sport comes out stinking like week old fish guts

You're right - but today is also the best thing they could've happened; perhaps now the bullshit, lies and corruption can stop.

Looks exactly like he doesn't want to get the Brownlow medal he deserves

According to Gil, yes.

Utter campaigner
I wonder what the other 17 clubs will be saying to the commission about that and whether the commission will listen. From what Koch said tonight the other clubs are extremely pissed off with Essendon.

Can someone tell/show me what Tim Watson said on the news tonight?

I thought the whole "they're not guilty, this is all over" special news bulletin they had almost a year ago was cringeworthy enough on his part.

Anyone who had a basic idea of the process knew exactly this appeal would come, and that there would be a large chance this verdict would be delivered.

No. They were never penalised for doping. Just ask Paul Little.

Yes. There has to be a fine and a decent one ie multi million. Also probably a workcover fine. Plus more legal bills. Plus more legal fights against those found guilty. Plus surely loss of sponsorship.

HOW can Essendon find the cash to cover all that?

I doubt they can. Surely then the question will be: will the other clubs allow the AFL to pick up the tab?

In which case they may well be truly and utterly screwed.

....for which they have already been punished by the AFL with loss of draft picks (and disqualification from the finals that year).

This latest hearing was only on the individual athletes, who are responsible for whatever goes in their body.

Except the AFL was very clear at the time that that punishment was for governance issues ONLY. None of that punishment was for doping violations. Today it was found that players at the club are guilty of doping violations. Where are those punishments for the club?

He reports on the stock markets for Commsec. Rose to prominence with his serious/humorous reports during Rove, when he would do a stock market report and then add something completely random at the end.

I won't get tired listening to McDevitt's statement.

There's no emotion, just cold hard facts.
Yeah fantastic. Hopefully many of the general public will now realise that the footy media has been lying to them for 3 years.

The players were in it up to their eyeballs.

The only bit I saw, was about the medal, and he thinks Jobe should be allowed to fight for it, and show the commission the evidence he put forward.

TBH, would be a tricky one for him to answer, it is his son afterall

One positive note, at least it's all over with. The competition can start again without all this ruckus in the background..

Essendon finally starts afresh..

Yep. Severe penalties needed. AFL pathetic in the way they're trying to sweep it all under the rug.

From the clip on FC...basically he's pretty sure Jobey can hang onto the medal because he's a good lad and didn't do anything wrong.

at least essendon g will be happy none of the players will win a court case against them. with the CAS judgement ruling the players were at significant fault, cant see a civil court ruling in favour of a player seeking damages

They weren't punished for doping though, they were punished for poor administration/bad record keeping.

It's really not - I really feel that "AFL fans who believe in the integrity of the game" have been left feeling that the head honchos at the AFL are unable or unwilling to deliver that.

Gerard Whately put it very well earlier tonight - the WADA case was equivalent to the adults entering the room.

It's always darkest before the dawn. Once the media digests this and starts asking the obvious questions, I'll be shocked if the AFL doesn't start backtracking on some of the bizarre statements they are making at the moment. The fans need to hold the AFL accountable for trying to help Essendon sweep this under the carpet.

Watson, like most at Essendon, is delusional.

They live in an alternative universe where Hird is the greatest coach ever and everyone is innocent.
