As it stands we only have 3 players who are definite non-starters for round one and a couple of others who could be considered touch and go to be ready by then

That means EP could have as many as 21 Eagles players to fit in assuming one travelling emergency for the Eagles

Lamb is competing for a forward spot with McInnes, Allen, Waterman and a resting ruck

Gorter and Mackenzie will play as KPDs whilst Watson, Rotham, Brophy and Cole are HBF types

Midfield spots he's competing with Duggan, Partington, Karpany, Mutimer, Snadden and one of Nelson, Hutch or Redden. Add Venables to that if he's fit

Lamb is tumbling down the pecking order in a big way especially if Waterman and Allen perform
I'm impressed Keys, no love for Masto st EP? ;)

I hope at some point Lamb gets a run in the seniors this year to show his wares, before we make the impending chop.

Unlikely that he'll actually deserve the call up, but it could always be a case of the player playing shit at WAFL level, but could Microsoft Excel surrounded by good players. Ala Hill.

Hill never really put his hand up in the WAFL, yet we bought him back and he has kept his spot.
Hill 20 and 3'd in his second last WAFL game 2 years ago

I honestly think that Lamb and the club tried to find a trade back to a Victorian club but got no worthwhile interest so a new one year deal was agreed

Keys from what I was told ........ less than a bite not even a sniff of interest from any Victorian Clubs.

It was take the one year deal or it was over for him and he could take his chances in the rookie draft.

He is a real enigma thats for sure, he has talent but he sits in the NQR pile for me I think he has concentration issues .

Need some former WCE midfielders to hook him up with some concentration aids

His last 4 WAFL games in 2016 cost him any interest over east. Would start him in WAFL reserves. Tell him if he shows desire he moves up to WAFL league, continues to show a lack of interest and he can return to Victoria in June.

I'm not sure what the non-Eagles WAFL squad looks like, so unsure if I've left room in the right positions for them to play.

But based on today's team announcement and injuries, could see the following players in the WAFL this weekend (assuming that Mackenzie, Giles and Cole don't make the cut):

League (12)

FB: Butler Mackenzie -
HB: - - Cole
C: - - Karpany
HF: - McInnes -
FF: - Lycett -

R: Giles Duggan Partington

I: Brophy Gorter Allen -

Reserves (7)

Lamb
Bayok
Snadden
Rotham
Mutimer
Waterman
Watson

Injured/recovering

Naitanui
Tunbridge
Rioli
Venables (think they will give him a week)

Hard to say and based on previous dealings there's no hope finding out from the club beforehand

I suspect there'll be at least one possibly two more in the league side. Watson was one of the better players for EP in their last scratchie so I think he'll be in the seniors as well as Mutimer

Allen has been recovering from a hammy (I think) and has been on reduced training so I think he'll play reserves - Lamb will likely get another chance in the league side albeit undeserved. If not him then Waterman will get a crack

Venables I'd say will get a half in the reserves given that he played some minutes in our last match simulation

If it was up to the club East Perth wouldn't even be able to confirm whether they had a scratch match scheduled.

I'll be heading down tomorrow. Should be really interesting from a WC perspective. Barrass, Lycett, Redden, Duggan and Giles (and Schofield?) all pushing to play in the first few rounds. Although I'll have my toddler so actually watching may be tough.

Also heading down to do the sponsorship thing and scream like a schoolgirl at Duggo. Never been to Shark Park, is there good/bad vantage spots?

I've only been a couple of times. There is one stand with height on the flank. The stand where you can get a beer doesn't have the best view. I'll probably confined to the grassy banks given that toddlers don't like to sit still.

I'll listen out for the girlish screams.

Mate just told me Waterman is now in a moonboot but didn't say what was the problem.
Wonder where that's come from - Simpson said there were 43 available for selection and there was no mention of an issue with Waterman in the most recent injury update this week (not that it means much)

Speaking of Watermen, does anyone know if Alec is planning on playing any footy this year?

Presumably at Claremont in 2017.

Hoping to get to Freo Oval for Souths v Claremont this afternoon.

Claremont will be interesting to watch in 2017 under Darren Harris. Few close results go there way last year and they'd have played finals.

They've been on a recruiting drive that's netted ex AFL players off season as well.
