Mixed. He didn't kick it that much (that I saw, I was with a friend who talked a lot) but when he did it seemed to go where he intended. He handballed a lot and missed a couple targets but also hit a few. Covers the ground well and seems to know where it's going. Would want to watch a few more games (on my own so I can concentrate) before I made any kind of serious assessment.

Ha Ha Ha, Cheers E Shed, know what you're talking about, take my 2 boys to the footy and if it's not one asking for ice cream it's the other abusing the umpires! I'm still not sold on the kid, he can get it often enough but seems to butcher a lot to me. I guess it depends on whether you can rectify that.

Wolfenden maybe Garlett unlickey good player cant really hit up targets and think he wont really make it to afl level.

Interesting thoughts, see what you're saying. Wolfenden has on / off days, Garlett is pretty good overhead, to add to his pace and goal scoring ability. Don't think it's something that can be worked on?

Watched the game too and thought Garlett was pretty bloody good. Yarran out of the potential draftees played best. I've cooled on Nicko a bit, great athlete, terrific leap, great tackler etc etc but at the moment he doesn't have a footy brain. Think our first pick is too important to risk on a player who may or may not turn into anything.

Jetta was quiet too but I'm thinking he won't be at Freo. Can't see us using a second rounder on him, will take a mid and can't see him lasting to our third. We do need that small crumbing player who puts pressure in the forward 50 but I think we can pick someone up in the later rounds or rookie draft. Garlett impressed me and I hope we have a look at him and possiblt Bennell later in the draft.

The Worst today--
Browne-A dominant force,gathering 33 disposals
Drum-Had 20 disposals and 8 marks but some costly misses in attack
Connelly-12 hit outs but little else from long periods on the interchange bench
Headland-Limped noticeably but got through full match for Peel ressies.
Hinkley-Had plenty of the ball
Smith-2 goals in a otherwise quiet display
Campbell-Just 1 point from centre half forward but gained some useful touches.

Headland looked really unfit. Though I suppose he's never really looked like a super athlete, more in the Luke Hodge/Paul Hasleby mould.

despite what some of you actually 'want', do any of you actually think Des might get a call up this year? He probably shouldnt even be playing WAFL is he is hobbling on that knee!

He could do, depending on injury/suspension/any more retirements

Would be great for him to even get in a game against Collingwood in round 22, just to see him out there with Palmer for a little taste of what could be to come in 2009.

Only had Chris Smith and Clayton Hinkley playing at Arena Joondalup in the WP v Swans game today, although, to be honest I wasn't sure which team Hinkley was playing for. He had an ordinary game last week and today's was jusy woeful, although I am only remembering the bad points because I am filthy we lost! Shouldn't be, because I didn't expect us to win, but.... Anyhow, Hinkley's decision making was very bad today, got teammates into trouble handballing to players under pressure. In the last quarter I counted 3 handballs where he handballed straight to the opposition on their HFF.

Smith, well I think people told Dawson that tagging seemed his go and today he did it again. Tagged Chambers, who carved us up last time, to have minimal impact on the game. One of his better games, although his stats won't show much I don't think. :thumbsu:

Did Jeff Garlett play for Swans chrsco?

How did the potential draftees go?

Did Hill play for West Perth chrsco? If so did you notice how he went?

Hill went alright early but started making some dodgy decisions, or non decisions I should say, as the game got tighter. Will only learn from that and I probably should take that attitude with Hinkley as well, rather than spewing at him.

Garlett and Wolfenden were solid as usual. Wolfenden hits every contest hard and defensive work is great and Garlett is especially dangerous when dashing off the HBF and anywhere within 50.

Yarran was just sublime today, he was on. Kicked 4 goals 2 and worked up in the midfield, but his reading of the ball is exquisite. He just frustrates because you know he can play like this and sometimes it just doesn't turn up.

Naitanui again looked a little uncomfortable down back, but he is strange because he seems happier to let the ball hit the deck and rely on his ground skills to win the contest, which he does 9 out of 10 times. When put into the ruck he came alight and is a clearance machine and even looked dangerous when forward today.

Clancee Pearce continues to impress me. Uses the ball off the HBF really well to release players or pinpoint players in the middle. Ready made defender this one.

Walters didn't get much game because he injured an ankle early and seemed restricted from that. But in the bits of play before the injury he moves really well and uses the ball well. If he or Yarran were picked up early second round they would be bargains I reckon.

Ok thanks for that:thumbsu:

Do you think that there is a chance that Jeff will be drafted or rookied?

Yarran looks very good. I cant see us snagging him tho, will probably go before our next pic. First round, its NN, Harlett, Zeibell, Hurley.

The lost PP is going to hurt.

Touch and go whether he's drafted or rookied. Personally I think he might be rookied, if at all. The AFL has an infatuation with 17/18 yo's and the reason so many "mature" players were taken last year was because of the perceived shallow draft. Having said that, Harry Taylor should remind a few AFL recruiters what the right mature player can do to a teams set up.

Frustrating, isn't it? At least Campbell seems to present when he plays despite having average talent.

A backhander to Campbell that doesn't really seem deserved. His kicking seems as good as Murphy's, and Murphy has little else. Skills such as tackling and aggression generally are much stronger in Campbell who seems a good third forward.
