As always thanks to Swannies for his brilliant write up on the WAFL every week

After some exciting matches last weekend we can hope for more of the same this weekend. All 4 should be crackers, with the top 4 teams playing each other and those outside the 4 playing each other. East Freo have the bye and they will be grateful after an epic Foundation Day Derby.

Royals v Tigers - Well, both teams did it in reverse last week, with the Tigers starting well and finishing badly, whilst the Royals gave the Falcons a jump and then an almighty scare with a barnstorming finish. Can the Tigers mount a challenge for the full 4 quarters this time, or will the Royals be able to stave off their challenge. Thomson, McGinnity, Ruck, B Jones all played well last week but need a little lift from some of their team mates. The Royals saw Cowell with a staggering 10 I50, but as I said before they need more support for Noakes and Merrington in the forward line. When Shuey gets there he sounds like he will help, Clarke is giving them good drive out of the centre and forward. The back half is reasonably solid. Is Clutterbuck a chance to show us his wares forward soon? (Sico, that's directed at you). The Tigers have a fairly potent forward line but can't get the scores on the board. Should be a close call but the home team to get over the line.

Demons v Thunder - possibly the most important game of the season for both teams, especially Perth. I expect fire breathing Demons this weekend and will be disappointed if Jars can't get them up. However, they are up against a fairly good running side with the likes of Haines, O'Brien, Ware, Rosa, Schofield, Bloxsidge running into decent form last week. Perth have had a 3 week layoff, how rusty will they be? Perth MUST win to stay in contention and keep the 30 year dream alive, or else it becomes another nightmare for them. The big recruits, Moody, Ferguson must repay the demons faith this weekend. Possibly with Butler back this week still, that will reinforce their running brigade. If Cook rerturns I can see the Dees getting over the line, but struggling without him.

Swans v Sowfs - with 2 days less to prepare after an epic derby, can Souths get up? Swans game plan should be to run, run and then run some more at Souths to exploit any weakness there. Farmer should be back, I think, will Bell? If they don't regain these 2 I see it being a tough ask for Sowfs. Swans should welcome back Twomey, but the rumours are that we'll say goodbye to Naita, hopefully not before this weekend, anytime after is fine. We have 2 very good running brigades up against each other and Murphy has long been a hard one to stop for Swans, although Ames is in vintage form at FB. Meanwhile Notte and Hansen (if in) can be hard to stop when on song. Should be another cracker and is vital in terms of 1 team can get a game up on a fierce rival for a top 2 or top 4 spot. Can't decide!

Falcons v Lions - The Falcons won't want to give the Lions a chance like they did the Royals, they'll take it. The Lions should welcome back Cockie this weekend, who has a real impact in the middle of the ground. Falcons may welcome back Bradley. Seaby needs to be more dominant for the full game to give his runners first use of the ball, because they are up against Cockie, Read, Hildebrandt, Fletcher, Cossom, so some very useful WAFL players. Up forward is where the Falcons can stretch the Lions, because this has become their weakness, IMHO. Parker walks like he's ice skating these days and Brant Chambers gave Rumble a footballing lesson 2 weeks ago. Keevers is a great reader of the play and mops up brilliantly but if Campbell and LeCras can get going, well..... Still, expect the Lions class to rise to the top and get over the line here.

Damn it I really wanted to go watch Swans vs SF to see Naita, Notte, Davis and also L Jetta, considering that Naita could quite probably be in the side next week, but its all the way up in Bassendean.
I don't suppose there's some sort of live stream is there?

has anyone heard of Hamish Shepard the commentators said that he was part of the west coast eagles list. i ve never heard of him before.

could of we drafted lewis jetta in last years draft.

Its my understanding that we could have based on age but I am unsure if he either (a) nominated for the draft or (b) was eligible to...

I was told he was available.

Obviously, if he was, the club and others have simply correctly formed the view that he is a crab who can't play football. :p

did lewis jetta nominate last year?

what has happened to brett jones...he was a gun in 2007, his disposal whilst never really a highlight has really hit rock bottom. its time's like this that our 25-26 year old type players need to stand up and be leaders, not be playing in the wafl.

i'd give him 3-4 weeks in the wafl to regain some confidence and touch. you can see the effort is there, it's just things arent happening for him.

We could have had Jetta last year and we could have had Palmer 3 years ago when he was overlooked in the 2006 draft i believe?

I still cant believe we drafted James Thompson in the 06 draft...what a wasted pick.

Jetta wasn't in the WAFL last year, I don't think he nominated at all.

Thomson is coming along Prem. I was more surprised we delisted him so quick.
I've said a few times that I think he will make another list
