Bucovaz is looking very classy. Good size and nice skills. Walters bobbing up with the odd bit of nice play. Hinkley continues to give hospital handballs!

Certainly looking like he is in the running to get a gig. That is some good news from the day. Fingers crossed Casey has a good game tomorrow. Good work Bucavaz!:thumbsu:

I thought Bucovaz looked very classy in the back half. Not sure he'll make a great HF/FF. He moved a bit like Travis Varcoe when down back which surprised me. Didn't think he was fleet by foot and so clean with his disposal. Moves in traffic really well.

If he develop the fitness to run bulk km's during a game could prove a very valuable HBF/3rd tall back. Probably still a year away from AFL level. If he stays fit amd sticks to the task he might be worth an elevation come years end.

Anthony played in defense today and had 7 goals kicked on him :(

Well, I'm glad they gave it a go anyway. His confidence must be shot ATM.

...

I've not seen a heap of Bucovaz, but yea, he moves really well for a bigger player and has some quickness about his general play. Good to hear he's doing well.

Question, is this his second game back after injury? Or am I way off the mark. I've lost track of these things.

To finish with just one handpass is pretty bad, but to be fair to Anthony he apparently only played on Herring in the second half. And 5 of those 7 goals came in the first half.

Sounds like Bucovaz played well, hopefully he can continue with that form for the next couple of months. And another 21 touches for Hinkley, two thirds of those were kicks which is good to see and a show of confidence.

Buca has always shown quite a bit in the WAFL. He seems to have been very unlucky also. Last year he was in hot form and kicked 7 for Easts then got injured the next week. The following week Freo had a raft of injuries and had to bring Bollenhagen up for his debut - it would of been Buca but for his injury. Has had some bad luck with injuries in his first two years.

I noticed Claremont's ruckman got 60 hitous!!! THats huge, was he playing some midget?

Anyone seen Mora's brother play? Seems to be getting more of the ball last few weeks and having more of an impact.

The Worst writeup says that Walters picked up an injury to his ankle?

My next question is, how bad/long?

Did it in the second quarter from memory. Got it checked out and tested for about 10 minutes before running out the rest of the game.

He did have a noticable limp and looked to be in some pain running.

Ah, fair enough thats not as bad. I was listening to Gossage after the match and he said that he'd had 7 kicked on him.

Nah, he didn't. He said Herring kicked 7 but 4 were on Rumble and Anthony moved onto him in the second half.

On Hinkley, like Swannies, I have bagged him over the past few years but this year I feel he has improved somewhat (or everyone has slipped to his level!). He did some very nice things yesterday.

I'll be VP of your fan club, OK chris? Only because I've decided I need to be a more positive person and hopefully this will help my development. :p

Hinkley was certainly not bad yesterday, I haven't come on to say that. We were trying to use him as an attacking conduit, as Harding rightly pointed out, this guy can run, wuickly, we need to use him to open up the other team. He kicked a nice running goal in the first, I think, and then 1 later? Positive signs for me, from him. :thumbsu:

Son Son, in the rooms later, was still very sore and limping and just exhausted, I think.

Bucovaz, liked what I saw and certainly looked more comfortable when drifting back to help the defence, which is where I noticed him most.

Dodd took an absolute screamer in the last, was a beauty.

I think Hinkley was used as a tagger under Dawson. might enjoy a bit more freedom this year which will give us a better look at his creative ability I hope. Just in time to delist him I imagine.

I do like this new positive version of yourself. :)

The game Clarke is currently playing for East Perth is very encouraging. Kicking goals and up to 20 possessions midway through the last. Griffin is not shoe in for second ruck or to replace big Sandi if turf toe rules him out.

Nice! The Zacman can't be far off a debut with form like that.

Will be interesting to se how the selection panel goes if Sandi is out - will they pick Griff or Z-man??

Personally, if Sandi is hurt, I'd like (given the Sainters lack of core specialist ruckmen at the moment) to see us pick Zac and play him as a forward - leave the rucking to Kep and MJ, and maybe the odd burst from Pav. I just can't see St Kilda coping at Subi with the height of Pav, Z man and Kep, plus the run of Ballas and Mayne. But, that said, I do wonder if Griff isn't a "safer" option in that he can nullify the taps and make a contest around the ground.

Dunno... Anyway, hopefully Sandi is fit and firing so all this is moot...

From the article above:

East Perth's was built on the back of Zac Clarke's dominant display in the ruck that saw him only win 21 hit outs but gather 26 possessions around the ground as well as nine marks and two goals.

Dean Cox mark II?? Micale did call it three years ago.

Great to see him hit that form. He actually showed some really good glimpses that he could do that in the NAB Cup, then tailed off until today. Might also have had to do with EP preferring Zac Beeck in the ruck role prior to now.

What happened to Mellington? Didn't play.
