I will become concerned that the club is taking us for granted if they dont soon put some options to members.
I would be happy to continue paying installments, if this is say going to 2021 membership, but if I dont get an "offer" soon I will be cancelling the direct debit.
Ready to share the pain but talk to me about it.

With the AFL securing a loan on the order of $600 million I expect that discussions are being held between the AFL and the clubs about what they can do, I don't think the clubs will want to give up the dollars in their accounts that keep them afloat until the AFL money comes through to replace it.

Then they will be in a position to move money around.

I will continue to pay may membership this year and next year even if no games are paid. If it makes the difference of AFL/Fremantle football club existing in the future. However I am financially able to do this and I understand many people have to budget carefully in these times.

If we stick by our team through this we could become one of the strongest clubs on the other side of it.

Catch 22. Feel like should be refunded the money due to no games, but then its Fremantle Dockers and want to support them and keep them afloat. Right now is an extremely difficult time. Lose/lose no matter how you look at it.

600 million from the AFL surely would be split with each of the 18 clubs. 33.33 Million each. Some need it more then others. But knowing Gillon he'll probably put it in the loss damages from the TV rights and barely spread it minimally. Pay out GWS, as that's his bunny. He wouldn't even care about North Melbourne nor Western Bulldogs. I mean where did the TV broadcast rights even go if the AFLPA keep bargaining for it? Grassroots is a cop out. State Leagues are struggling and will be in even more strife.
Richmond, West Coast and Collingwood have probably 80-100 million between them, I would guess?

St Kilda are in a 12 million dollar debt, can't imagine what Gold Coast and GWS are in.

They need to move quick, what with monthly direct debits.
If club wants loyalty (i have lots)...
Make a pitch...and open the books (including WAFC).
There will a range of responses, fans and their circumstances are all different.
I have been paying the "Grand Final Dreaming" loyalty levy since 2013.
Waiting for the call.

Dale Alcock just announced that the club will be in contact with all members to discuss options.

I implore those who can afford it to leave your money in the club. The loan from the banks is exactly that, not a gift. It’ll need to be repaid.

With the league having full access to each clubs accounts - I am not sure that in supporting Freo we will be helping Freo come out ahead of other clubs. I would want an answer on that before deciding. Otherwise, if they can't make it with $500m then there are other major issues.

Agree. AFL has to inform fans, members of what exactly is the 600m is for. Feel like it’ll be for the accounting side of things for the league and strap enough for the clubs. Wait and see

Garlick said this last week
"We will now shift our focus to our revenue streams and establish a framework to enable our key stakeholders – members, corporate partners and sponsors - to support their club if they are in a position to do so.

We understand and respect that everyone’s personal circumstances are different, and we will work through such frameworks with this in mind."

Just keep in mind that they stood down 75 percent of their staff, so providing feedback to 50,000 members is going to be hard, especially when they are uncertain about what the future hold.

5000 members is right...not mushrooms!

two weeks later we have heard **** all.

Garlick's email today was pathetic. Way too long, Full of weasel words and other vague statements.

If we aren't getting all the games (and we aren't) then refunds should be issued.

In fact the refunds should be issued now. When the season restarts you can charge us again.

He gave some good information out regarding the goal of not wanting to take a loan to survive during this period.

Despite that, there was nothing mentioned regarding membership, refunds or an expected timeframe. That was the key information I was expecting. The information and clarification on the AFL assistance was good, the lack of membership information is frustrating especially as they are sending out email reminders for the next direct debit to ticket holders.

The reason for mentioning that was to position whether you want your membership or be a second tier club for the foreseeable future. If we become a second tier club, expect to be treated like one with fixtures, etc. I'd rather not become a second tier club.

If I was the club I wouldn't be refunding anything until there is clarity around the season. It is hard for them to make decisions with no idea on anything, 2 weeks is nothing in the grand scheme of what this has become.

If the club can't fulfil their end of the membership scheme than I am sure they will look at compensating members who are effected.

Then get ready to either A: Find a new team or B: get absolutely gouged on memberships in the next 5 years to make up for the lost revenue.

I will 100% guarantee they won't refund memberships without members people specifically requesting it be done. There is absolutely no way they are going to simply hand over 48,000+ worth of membership fees.

I understand why it was mentioned - I still think they need to be a little clearer about the plan to move forward and how it will or wont work.

I'd be content with them keeping hold of my money this season if I get a 20% discount on my membership for the next five to six years.

It would be nice to be presented with options. I know people who have lost businesses and many others who have lost jobs. The club will go back to paying players and staff very high wages next year (presumably) as the revenue will bounce back very quickly. The people I know who have lost businesses won't bounce back anywhere near as quickly.

They need to be looking at options and starting that discussion. Effectively we are customers (atm) who are not getting a service that has been paid for in an environment where the customer is potentially facing losing their home and at the very least a 2-5 year regression on paying off their mortgage.

Before people come at me with supporting the club etc etc. I am not saying we shouldn't support the club I am simply saying that the club while hurting is not hurting nearly as much short or long term as many of the people I am speaking with.

I agree. The member has a right to get their money back for their seats, the club has a big interest in holding that money until next year. There is a leverage there.

The club knows it, they should get on the front foot and lock their members and financial security in for the future.

Let them keep the money, 20% off membership loyalty program for the next six years - unless you decide not to continue your membership - or get your money back now.

The AFL will be announcing back end of this month re: their plans (ie: Still May 31, or pushed back etc) and until they have an idea of the plan, the season (if any) and the dollars associated, they are hamstrung.

They are 100% going to be offerring options around what people can do and again I believe that to be this month.

if anyone is in desperate need, contact them and they will assist - simple.

Whilst I get the frustration, until they know a vague plan, its very difficult to communicate options. The decisions they make now are ones of solvency, and will effect the club for many, many years into the future.

they are not providing a service. They can't take money for services they didn't provide. end of story.

They can take money but you don't have to choose to give them your money, ask for a refund if you want one, you will get it.

Otherwise wait and see what options appear when the club and AFL have an understanding on how the year will play out.
