i arrived at the game half way throught the 2nd qtr... i came on here to advise that walker didn't play and was probably playing tonight....

it must of happened in the 1st qtr...

shocking news....

Yes it is the case and always has been. Once the team is finalised the Emergencies will play in VFL unless a player has been given till before the game to be right or the emergency gets pulled out early in the game.

So nothing new here...

Terrible news and i hope AW gets his shoulder right with a good operation and we see him back again next year in a Navy blue jumper.

To the guys riding him off....

You need a life, he is still young and i have no doubt he will be running around for us again in the future.

Good luck Andy and keep the chin up. :thumbsu:

It's frustrating for him and the supporters no doubt who know he has all the talent in the world. What i questiton there any different approach in regards to surgery that can be taken to try and keep him on the park. I heard last time that part of the reason why his shoulder continued to pop out was because the joint was loose. Afaik, they corrected that.

Is it the same shoulder in which was recently fixed? If so that's worrying.

BB would be able to provide more insight into this i'm sure.

give him the rest of the year off... send him into see Greg Hoy... get both of them tightened up and solid and then let him loose in 2010. Should they go again then it is time to show him the door but lets give him 8-10 months of proper surgical treatment, proper recovery with no intentions to rush him back and lets do this properly this time instead of the half assed attempts we have tried over the last couple of years!

suggesting all that all the best to the bloke and I cant wait to see him in the navy blue in 2010!

ps: Greg Hoy is the bomb when it comes to shoulders... when I walked into his clinic at the Avenue it littered with thank yous from a massive cross section of sports stars from cricket, AFL, NBL, NBA, MLB, boxing and even gymnasts!

The poor kid must be shattered, a real shame for him and the club.

Is there anything/procedure/operation that will help AW to have any longevity in the game?, hopefully the reco will do the trick, if he ever does a shoulder again you would think it would be the end of his AFL career and that would be a great shame. The club needs to make absolutely sure that this will never happen to AW again.

Give him the rest of the season off, let his shoulder heal/strengthen after the reco, let him have some quality time with his young family and let him come back next season, fit, strong and hungrier than anyone else in the AFL to play a game !!!

Just imagine !!!

I think it first happened against Hawthorn mid 2007 when he popped it out twice during the same game.
He missed a week, came back, did it again and missed another 2 then played out the season.

Post 2007 he had an operation before Christmas, then came back in a practice match against Western Bulldgs, did it again, so he had a full reconstruction.

Played the last 6 weeks of 2008, then reinjured it again pre season 2009. The club decided against surgery, preferring rest/rehab.

And here we are with todays calamity, shocking run for the bloke, but he does have age on his side.

F*** the guy just cant take a break, hopefully he is back in the navy blue jumper before long.

Anyone writing him off needs there head read, he is young and not the only player to ever have multiple shoulder injurys.

An update on the CFC website. Icke says they aren't sure of the extent of the injury. Will wait for scans on Monday. So maybe it's not as bad as we first thought? I'm clutching at straws here, I know. But I want Walks back!

I'm fairly sure I saw Walks acting completely normal in his shirt and blazer this evening. Granted I saw him only from the back but I'm sure it was him. I'm hoping it was and it's better than expected.

Shit news. Really shit news.

It kinda makes me wonder if all this had've happened if they'd just done the surgery in the first place? Or is it a different shoulder?

Anyway, can someone direct me to the match report/match details from the Ants please?

Cheers.

From Andrew Walkers dad
Just heard,dislocated.
Finally agreed to a reco.,will be performed this week(should have been done much earlier imo).
Back in training in 12 weeks.

So let me get this straight... he's had shoulder op's over the past couple of seasons but never a reco? What's the go here...? Wasn't that the reason why he missed the majority of last season?

If he indeed has never had a reco, they better get it right this time around and make sure they get it right. He's still relatively young - rather he misses the year and is hunky dory after that then getting injured two games after returning from injury time and again.

There was comment over the preseason that the joint was loose and it was susceptible to popping out - shoulders do tend to be notorious in terms of recurrences, though hopefully he can get some stability in the joint. While his are heavily strapped, don't think Judd has missed any footy from the shoulder problems he suffered as a junior.

Touch wood right now mr!

Numbers suggested he'd already had a reco.

If he had the reco done last season, then I don't understand what Walkers dad is referring to in terms of saying 'it should have been done much earlier", when he's actually just been working his way back? The only thing i can think of is that he didn't have a full reco last year and had a different type of surgery. I remember hearing about the tightening of his joint to ensure it wouldn't pop out...perhaps it wasn't a reco. Needless to say I'm a bit perplexed.

He had the full reco after popping it out in the 2008 pre-season game against the Doggies, but didn't have another re-co after re-injuring it in the 2009 pre-season, this is probably what his dad is referring to.

Cloke has had 4 re-co's on one of his shoulders and 2008 was his first season that it held up. In 2008 Cloke was 23, in 2010 Walker will be 23, let's hope his shoulder holds up like Cloke's has been since last year.

i thought that walker actually had his left reco'd once, then when it came out again (and with the change of medical staff post pagan) they finally took him to Hoy who did his left shoulder. Then late last year and early this year he damaged his right shoulder but he took the non surgical option (if there is such one as once the ligaments tear they cant heal like an ACL) and that probably just involved strengthening the muscles around the shoulder to hold it in but obviously this has failed and as a result he will see Hoy during the week to stitch everything up. 6 weeks in a sling for the boy followed by about 6 weeks of getting it moving etc again... should be back playing in about 12-16 weeks but I say no rush... get it right!
