If that was careless, what is deliberate?

He deliberately/intentionally bumped him, but the contact being high was unintentional.

As it wasn't his intention to bump him in the head, it will be judged careless. Which is different to an "intentional" strike to a players head or the Cameron incident where he elbowed the head.

With that in mind, careless, medium impact and high contact. So 1 week. Similar to Fyfe's suspension

Would guess 2, minimum 1, maximum 3 for Tex.
And one week for J Selwood for the trip, and a fine for the staging.

Tuohy was quite clearly concussed the rest of the game when he came back out. His disposals and decision making was sooo delayed in the 2nd half.

If poor disposal and decision making is justification for diagnosing a concussion, then Tex must have wiped out half of Geelong's side tonight.

Tuohy coming back out shouldn't save him from a suspension though. Deliberately lined a player up and hit him high, deserves weeks. Tuohy coming back is the reason it'll be 1-2 and not 3-4.

Just hoping that keeping the elbow down, and contact being on the lower side of "high contact" helps him out. Not a great look though and he's got to get at least a week, but it's nothing like the Cameron one.

‘Ran past the ball’. Give me a spell. Tuohy had the ball in his hand 0.0001 of a second before Tex bumped him. One week for getting him high, nothing more.

1-2 seems fair but oh wait I forgot it's Tex so 10 weeks for the dirty thuggish coward dog, deserves to burn in hell.

Seriously, the Tex hate is just ****ing pathetic at this point.

Depending on the medical report 1 to 2 weeks
And banned from listening to the Richmond song for the rest of the season.
Listening to the Tigers song would be sufficient penalty IMO

1 week, careless, high low medium.

Tho it played in and bumps are still legal in this sport within 5 meters of the ball, only problem was height.

How can it be careless? He ran past the ball and had his eyes on the man the whole time and got him high.

I can see it being rated as low impact though.

Comparing two events with an infinite number of differences is logically absurd. I agree a week most likely based on minimal outcome. Delayed symptoms by Tuohy would increase it, mostly it would be bad to a guy seriously concussed though.

It’s careless because bumping a player within 5 meters of the ball is a legal action.

He stayed on the ground and kept his arm tucked in.

He intentionally meant to bump him, but he did not intentionally mean to get him high.

How many times does this have to be discussed before people understand the rules?

Touhy is within 5m of the ball it is reasonable that he can expect contact - therefore bumping him is fair game, he also does not have the ball so a tackle is not an option.

Tex (or any other player going for a bump) is not obligated to look at the ball and can in fact go past the ball to take out his opponent.

The only thing is he has to make sure he does not hit them in the head, which he did unfortunately - that said the majority of the contact is in the body and his bicep gets him in the face so it really wasn't as bad as people would have you believe.

Reading the uproar over this you would think he just ran past and raised an elbow at him or something.

Look at Lindsay Thomas on Scott Selwood - that was graded as careless because of the same parameters.

Probably 2 at most.

Intentional, Medium Impact, High = 2 weeks.

If it gets graded at careless it's pretty much an engineered outcome.
I feel the only valid wriggle room is the Medium Impact part. They may say insufficient force.
There's a tiny chance they'll argue careless, but that's going too far, even for the MRO.

That’s not how intentional works

Tuohy was quite clearly concussed the rest of the game when he came back out. His disposals and decision making was sooo delayed in the 2nd half.

It was to the point at one stage he stood still with the ball for about 5-6 seconds and nearly got tackled holding the ball.
So your saying that Geelong will get a $20k fine for sending a concussed player back on to the field? I call BS!

That’s not how intentional works

Except that's exactly how it's worded in the Tribunal guidelines.

"The AFL Regulations provide that a Player will be guilty of Rough Conduct where in the bumping of an opponent (whether reasonably or unreasonably) the Player causes forceful contact to be made with any part of his body to an opponent’s head or neck. Unless Intentional, such conduct will be deemed to be Careless"

So unless the player intentionally bumps the player in the head, the act of a bump to the chest making contact with the head is a "careless" act

That’s not how intentional works

Ah yeah kinda is, legal football maneuver that had accidental high contact = careless.

Lindsay Thomas on Scott Selwood, the one everyone wanted him to get 5 weeks for, was graded as careless.

If its graded as in Intentional it will be successfully argued that its careless at the Tribunal - can't imaging the MRO will waste their time trying to argue that its intentional.
