Walters :Just how good?

i believe the same was said about one daniel kerr pre-draft

True.

If we draft Walters I hope he ends up like Kerr. Hell, even if we don't draft him I hope he ends up like Kerr because he's from my end of town.

However, I could say that Kerr is from an Indian/Sri Lankan (?) background while Walters is indigenous. You'd back an Indian to bulk up before you did an aboriginal.

sidebottom is very unlikely to be around at 18, will go between 8 and 12 imo. Smith certainly has the pace we need, but is definitely a project player. If both were around, i would prefer blease over smith. Blease at 18 and walters at 20 would be good, both have pace and class, and can kick a good goal
I only ask because I've not seen much of him, but isn't pace supposed to be something he doesn't have going in his favour?

He's no sprinter but can run all day was second in the 3 km time trial at draft camp, and top 5 in the beep test. has terriffic vison and skill on both side of his body and can play all over the ground. He fits our normall recruiting policy and is from Vic country not Vic metro.

If he is there at 18 we will select him.

I know but I dought blease would get past Melb but sidebotom would. Word is that North is the only other club to have shown interest but are believed to go tall with Johnson or Lisle.

Yarran has been a troublemaker, but his skill is elite and you'd hope being involved with an AFL club would beat it out of him.

He certainly seems very dedicated to his footy.
Exactly.. "You'd hope the AFL system will beat it out of him" might be too risky for a side like us.

Exactly how has Yarren been a troublemaker? Admittedly, he seems to have had a troubled childhood; moving around a lot and his old man being in jail... Has Chris ever had any trouble with the law though? If not, what incredibly narrow-minded and naive comments. From what I've read the bloke seems to have his head on straight, uses the trials/lessons from his childhood as motivation, and is already a role model to his younger siblings/relatives.

I would love him at WC but couldn't see him going #2 or lasting till #18.

I'm not going to spread gossip, you'll have to find out for yourself. However, my family is from the Swan View area and quite involved with the broader community.

As I said, I think he has elite skill, he's very dedicated to footy and I'd love him at WC. However, I don't think he will be in blue and gold.

Look mate, rumours are rumours. They could be dead on the money, they could be complete bullshit. I'm not going to spread anything, but what I heard about is 'apparently' recent stuff not childhood shenanigans.

Considering WCE's situation in the last 2 years, i think it is the opposite of naive to look at player character as well as skill.

Walters will be a gun and is a great pick up at 53 for the Dockers.

We all know the real reason that West Coast didn't draft Walters.

He is aboriginal.

West Coast have passed up on good aboriginal players from WA too often in the last 3-4 years for this to be coincidence.

That is a hard troll to pull off considering our first pick.

Epic fail.

we passed up on good indigenous players...like clayton collard and calib mourish?

how daft of us.

Pretty stupid call to make and risk getting banned for. Have you heard the saying that actions speak louder than words?

Have a look at the time and resources the Eagles have put into the Swans/BHP Billiton partnership with indigenous communities up north and the recent leadership programme they ran at Subi oval, with 20+ aboriginal footballers.

I dont understand Freo supporters obsession with us not taking Aboriginal players. Its like they've got something over us because they take all these Aboriginals and we dont. They havent been stocking up over the past few years either actually.

Its not true at all. Woodhouse said on radio 30min ago that we would have drafted Bennell at 36 so its complete bs. He sounded pretty cut Dees took Bennell actually.

Similar story with Krakouer last year. Desperate for him to fall to 43 in the 2006 draft, just didnt make it.
