Swiss police have arrested Ali Abunimah, executive director of The Electronic Intifada, in Zurich.

Would love to see even more grifters get arrested and barred entry into decent countries.

Maybe 'detained' by the Swiss authorities is a better word, Abunimah hasn't been charged with any criminal offence.

The main reasons given by Swiss authorities are:
  1. Security threat: Mario Fehr, the Head of the Department of Security in Zurich, labeled Abunimah as "an Islamist Jew-hater who calls for violence"
  2. Travel ban: The Swiss federal police (Fedpol) granted a request to ban Abunimah from traveling to Zurich
  3. Controversial statements: Abunimah has been accused of making anti-Israel statements, including claiming that "Zionism is one of the worst forms of antisemitism in existence today"
  4. Support for militant groups: He has reportedly praised Hamas and Islamic Jihad attacks on Israel as "resistance"
  5. Disputed views on October 7 events: Abunimah allegedly tweeted, "There is no credible evidence of a single rape on October 7," and has written about what he calls false claims of rape by Palestinians on that date

You think putting arrest warrants out against the ICC for applying the same standard to every country is ‘justice’?

That’s concerning.

Isn't it just sanctions and travel restrictions I assume to mean bans, not arrest warrants?

Sorry yes, had arrest warrants in my brain because the ICC had issued those. Same same point-wise though.

Pursuing the ICC for applying the same standard to all countries isn’t ‘justice’ by any meaning of the word.

Had to laugh when the ch7 news said “ when the 4 women soldiers were released” really.

They were taken from an IDF observation post on October 7, so technically they're probably IDF.

Are the Swiss ruled by fascists?

Controversial statements? Disputed views on Oct 7? That will get you arrested in Israel, but Switzerland?

Has Abunimah called for violence in Switzerland?

Government councilor and the Head of the Department of Security, Mario Fehr, told NZZ that Abunimah is forbidden to travel to Zurich, adding, "We do not want an Islamist Jew-hater who calls for violence in Switzerland."

Fedpol can ban entry to people deemed a threat to Swiss security, either internal or external.

Has Abunimah called for violence in Switzerland?

Not according to that article he hasn't. Looks like he's being targeted for speaking out against Israel, probably gets it everywhere.

Yes, really. They are IDF soldiers. That is what they are.

Trump's pushing to "clear out" Gaza with direct approaches to Jordan and Egypt to take 1.5m Gazans.

Trump must have been playing golf during the period that Egypt were heavily fortifying their border, which was done due to them wanting to protect their own security interests after many decades of attacks in their territory from Hamas-backed or affiliated terrorist organisations.

Of course the company line from Egypt and Jordan is that they don't want to allow Gazan's to be displaced due to it giving Israel a "win" because their underlying goal is a land grab of Gaza, but I think it's evident that you can take Israel on their word that dismantling Hamas is and always has been their goal.

Your gif makes some valid points, but what do you disagree with exactly?

If Israel's goal was 'genocide' and 'ethnic cleansing' of the area, then the could have been much more vicious militarily and they could have even punched holes in the borders to facilitate displacement. But they didn't and they ensured that aid got in. Looks like conventional warfare to me.

This argument has been rehashed dozens, or hundreds of times over the past year or so.

You’re free to believe what you like. The ICC arrest warrants would suggest the ICC disagrees.

They ensured aid got in? Have you been in a cave for 18 months? Are you one of those arguing they shouldn't allow any aid into Gaza at all?

If they were ensuring aid got in, why on the 16th Jan were only 6 aid trucks allowed into Gaza?

Then on the 20th, second day of the ceasefire, 915 aid trucks were allowed in.

51 trucks a day Jan 1-5, yet now they can magically let 600+ per day. Israel were using aid as a bargaining tool, starvation as a weapon of war.

What was their goal establishing 52 illegal outposts in 2024 throughout the West Bank?

What was Israel's goal with the illegal occupation of Gaza and the West Bank, 20 years before Hamas existed? Their goal maintaining that illegal occupation against all international law, and countless UN resolutions?

What was their goal when they launched an ethnic cleansing terror campaign in 1947?

Of course their underlying goal is a land grab. The military conquest of all of Palestine has always been Zionists' goal. Egypt and Jordan know those people won't be allowed back, just as the original refugees fleeing Palestine in 1948 have never been allowed back.
