Wonder why there has been ZERO western media coverage of the confirmed Hannibal directive attacks by IDF on Israelis on Oct 7th?

View attachment 2044945

Because it's not that much of a story as far as international news at this point? It has been reported on in western media, it's not like its being kept secret lol.

This would receive widespread coverage in western media if an investigation shows that the Hannibal Directive was used by the IDF to blow up vehicles that were known at the time to be carrying alive Israeli civilian hostages back to Gaza. That would be pretty newsworthy, but that's not what is being alleged. It also isn't what the Hannibal Directive is known to mean... at least not from any credible explanation of the directive I have read.

To break that cycle getting back to a two state solution is an absolute must. This indoctrination while heinous is not a reason to deny statehood to Palestine.
Statehood will not stop them from doing everything to destroy Israel and everyone in it. They claim that land.

OF course it will. Palestinians with their own fully independent united state have no need to attack Israel. Factions within Palestine will still be around and want to destroy Israel but with proper assistance from the international community can be turned into nothing more than an insurgency. You also have settlers who believe instead of buying land and living in the state of Palestine they can simply waltz in and claim property. They're also a huge threat to the two state solution but again with agreement on both sides and assistance from the international community they can be dealt with.

We don't know that Dogs.

There has to be a two state solution here, any other alternative is unbearable as more of the same.

Absolutely spot on. Inevitable more wars will eventually break out with yet more war crimes if a plan to a fully independent Palestinian state cannot be agreed upon.

In 2008 Ehlert offered to remove all settlers and withdraw completely from 93.7% of West Bank with 6.3% of that territory officially annexed to Israel with Israel transferring 5.8% of territory to Palestine in exchange with a direct transport link between Gaza/West Bank. The holy city was proposed to be an international city under this proposal under neither the sovereignty of Israel or Palestine.

I believe Olmert was genuine in his attempts at peace - unfortunately he was also corrupt and they ran out of time. Bibi came in and cancelled any discussions, and of course he has been an obstacle his entire career.

If you were to say the current government in power won't allow a two state solution, I'd say that is a more accurate. I don't see the current government in Israel lasting beyond the next election though.

Fair, but it might be a while before there is a mandate for it.

It has to be asked, who is it that is wanting a two-state solution? Answer: the West. We love happy endings and think we can prescribe how everyone else should live in peace and harmony. That’s the democratic ideal, but we’re not talking about two democracies here. The reality is that the autocracies of Arab world do not want a Jewish Western democracy as a close neighbour. Living on land they think of as theirs. Twelve hundred years of hatred is not likely to be wiped away so easily by creating a Palestinian state.

You have a very warped sense of history. What makes you think there is 1200 years of hatred?

You think Muslims are all out to exterminate the Jews or something?

You know a mix of people have lived in the region for many thousands of years, right? Of course there always would have been some friction, but there was coexistence until the British left a vacuum 75 years ago.

Egypt & Jordan get on fine with Israel after being declared enemies in the past.

The Arab world wants a permanent two state solution, the west does. It simply must and will happen eventually.

It absolutely must happen so we aren't discussing another war breaking out in 10 tears time by the same protagonists.

They both have to get used to the idea. It must not have anything to do with Hamas though, and perhaps the PA just takes over once the war is done. After this war is over, Israel needs to ramp up its diplomacy into overdrive and just once and for all do their best to get something permanent done!

Thankfully Hamas's popularity in Gaza is far lower than it seems to be among bigfooty posters at times. According to a recent opinion poll, only 25% of Gazans still support them. And only one fifth now support the October 7th attacks, down from half early in the war! I remember all the people claiming I had no empathy for Palestinians when I said if I was from Gaza, I would not be supporting Hamas or October 7th! Well, the overwhelming majority of Gazans agree. Israel needs to take advantage of this unpopularity of Hamas somehow and try and find peace partners they can work with and help build up.

That’s certainly encouraging. I wonder, though, how Iran feels about that, with Hamas being one of their instruments. Radical Islamism, that aims for the extermination of Jews and a worldwide caliphate, won’t be so easily suppressed, I fear.

Now, the sooner the remaining hostages can be returned, the sooner the next steps can be taken.

If Hamas want to govern Gaza then post war there should be elections for the entire of Palestine run by international organisatioins for which they can run for if they believe Palestinian people support them. Some time should be allowed for post war recovery before doing this.

Quite simply the only way to peace is as follows:

  • Return of all hostages held in Gaza plus remains to Israel without delay
  • Cease fire from both sides
  • War crimes commission established for the Oct 7 war with a panel of neutral international judges to be selected by the UN general assembly to prosecute all alleged war crimes with severe penalties as a strong incentive for another similar war to the current one not to break out. Compensation also to be decided by same judges, paid out of an international fund otherwise there will be resistance from both sides in being held accountable.
  • Temporary governance by UN / Arab league in Gaza. until the territory can be rebuilt and function properly.
  • Palestinian parliamentary elections run. Majority of seats governs for the entire of Palestine including West Bank / Gaza. At the same time there should also be elections called in Israel.
  • Whatever the result the parties in power to have an obligation imposed on them by the UN to cooperate. A new updated treaty needs to be signed. The Oslo accords are now out of date.
  • Arab league to assist with further rebuilding of Gaza and become fully responsible for supply of utilities / food via Egypt with no intervention at all by Israel. Israel's only involvement in Gaza to be the operation of border checkpoints which need to be jointly run by both sides.
  • Egypt / Gazan border controlled exclusively by Arab league.
  • Israel to allow travel from Gaza to Israeli territory again for citizens that wish to pursue economic opportunities and to receive essential health treatment that is not possible in Gaza or in Egypt. This will need a permit system to be jointly governed by the governments in power in Israel / Palestine.
  • Palestinian citizens allowed to travel freely between West Bank and Gaza via Egypt. Eventually, once permanent statehood is achieved by Palestine an underground rail and road link to be constructed for exclusive use by Palestinians funded jointly by the Arab League and Israel. is essential (as Israel proposed in 2008 solution).

Why would Israel agree to this?

Why wouldn't they?
Surely relative peace , no further wars is a pretty strong incentive.

Going back to the status quo of oppression followed by terror attacks is good for nobody other than the likes of Iran.
They might if Hamas are disbanded as part of the deal, but they just went to war after October 7th to increase the security of Israel, not decrease it. They would want a bunch of security concessions on top of it.
